Ownership[edit]

Broadcast Yearbook sometimes contained incorrect or outdated, un-updated data. That is the case with this station. Additionally, FCC records on this station stop at 1983, at the time the station went dark yet the station returned to operation as KMAP in 1988 and operated for over a year despite this activity not being reflected in the station's FCC file. The 1991 Broadcast Yearbook still showed the station as active (though with a new owner while still displaying the long-ago old owner!) when that was clearly not true.

You may well be right but, per WP:VERIFY and WP:TRUE, "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth". If you can find any reliable source to back up your assertion, please add it to the article. Without that, all we can work with is the multiple reliable sources that say otherwise. - Dravecky (talk) 05:24, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I discussed above, Broadcasting Yearbook is sometimes not reliable, containing incorrect or outdated, un-updated data. You're a former broadcaster so you should know this. Since, however, you accept the publication as reliable, I have referenced it as a source to confirm that Soho dba Newport Broadcasting was not the last known owner of the station. I believe this is sufficient to balance your concerns as a Wiki editor with the truth. 76.232.120.57 (talk) 18:10, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding that additional source. The Yearbook is far from perfect but it's at least a verifiable and generally reliable source. Editing based on what amounts to hearsay is far from verifiable and should be avoided. - Dravecky (talk) 21:04, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the BY is far from perfect, it's verifiably wrong more than it should be, given how much it was relied upon. That's why it's not a solid reference (it's a book form of Swiss cheese). But hey, rules are rules despite accuracy and truth. You're welcome for the source and it would appear we have improved this article to both of our (and the Great Wiki's) satisfaction. 76.232.120.57 (talk) 21:23, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
