Infobox name

Why is his name given as "Olajide Jide Junior Olayinka William Olatunji" in the infobox when neither of the sources support it, and when the legal documentation related to his business activities clearly indicates, rather than the often-given "Olajide William Olatunji", the correct "Olajide Olayinka WilliamS Olatunji" as stated at the head of the article? Is it some kind of joke (presumably, based on the "Junior" part)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.145.160.58 (talk) 03:12, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, commonly known as KSI or JJ, is an English YouTuber, musician, actor, and professional boxer. He's well-known from his social media group "the Sidemen." In 2019, he fought against Logan Paul (who's also a YouTuber) and won due to split decision. [1]

KSI should not have "professional boxer" in lead, it's just congestion

Stated many times before, "boxer" is not defining of KSI's career fame, and it is not a reasonable article leading occupation. Like other short term fighters, he has a dedicated sub-section for his "professional record", it does not serve to be a proper lead. He is not comparable to Jake and Logan Paul in boxing because they are active boxers. Prior press coverage for his fight with Logan Paul is irrelevant to the fact as even Ben Askren and Nate Robinson have both had far more press as opponents of Jake Paul, yet their article leads remain unchanged. Moreover YouTube videos where KSI allegedly mentions that he trains and at one point has talked about desires of "wanting to fight Jake Paul" are not sources. He has not officially announced another fight nor a potential opponent. He has had one opponent that stemmed from a YouTube beef, not a desire to pursue boxing. Jake Paul on the other hand actually has an upcoming fight. @Hannahxo: ChicagoWikiEditor (talk) 20:03, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

I agree that boxer should not be mentioned in the opening paragraph. Per MOS:ROLEBIO:

The lead sentence should describe the person as they are commonly described in reliable sources.

The noteworthy position(s) or role(s) the person held should usually be stated in the opening paragraph. However, avoid overloading the lead paragraph with various and sundry roles; instead, emphasize what made the person notable. Incidental and non-noteworthy roles (i.e. activities that are not integral to the person's notability) should usually not be mentioned in the lead paragraph.

The overwhelming majority of references used in the article describe him as a YouTuber; boxing is not what he is notable for, nor is it integral to his notability; he's had two amateur bouts and one professional, with no official titles or awards, so it's not exactly a note-worthy role; and his foray into boxing is incidental to his YouTube career (we can safely presume that KSI would never have stepped into a boxing ring had it not been for his YouTube career). I think the brief mention of his fights at the end of the third paragraph is sufficient. – 2.O.Boxing 10:31, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Add singer in the first line of the article and occupation because he has released many songs recently where he's singing (Holiday, You, Patience etc). Holiday and Patience both charted in top 3 of Official Singles Chart (Holiday being his highest charting song so far which is him singing from start to finish) so he is now notable for singing just as much as rapping, as evident by this BBC article[1], where they state "The Watford YouTuber, turned boxer, turned rapper/singer....".

And change the third line of the article from "He is also part of the British YouTube group known as the Sidemen" to "He is also also a co-founder and member of the British YouTube group known as the Sidemen, which have a combined total of 106 million subscribers across all their channels" because he is a co-founder of the group (along with Zerkaa, TBJZL and Vikkstar123, all three of which have the word co-founder in the lead) and the group has 106 million combined subscribers across all their channels.[2] (sourced by this BBC article)

Addition of this line in the first paragraph of article - "He is also a co-founder and member of the British YouTube group known as the Sidemen, which have a combined 123 million subscribers".[1] (sourced by this The Times article)

And addition of singer in the first line and occupation (infobox) because he has released many songs where he's singing (Holiday, You, Patience etc). Holiday and Patience both charted in top 3 of Official Singles Chart (Holiday being his highest charting song) so he is now notable for singing just as much as rapping, as evident by this BBC article[2], where they state "The Watford YouTuber, turned boxer, turned rapper/singer....".

I raised both these edit requests on 16th October with sources attached, both of which were accepted by User:FormalDude, however they have since been removed without any reason. So I'm raising the requests again. I've added an updated source for the Sidemen line since they were covered in The Times magazine very recently.—103.59.75.157 (talk) 18:29, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

I'll have to update the subs with the source later, as it's a bit of a pain on mobile, but I reintroduced singer. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:03, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
User:ScottishFinnishRadish Thank you. When you do so, change the "He is best known for co-founding the British YouTube group known as....." to "He is also a co-founder and member of the British YouTube group known as...." since that was what my original edit request was which was accepted a few weeks ago. I think someone later added the "best known for..." part, it actually doesn't say that anywhere in the source that he is best known for it. It should just be "He is also a co-founder and member of the British YouTube group known as the Sidemen, which have a combined 123 million subscribers" (with the The Times article linked above). —2402:E280:2316:74:EDC7:7371:9A4C:1053 (talk) 19:52, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
There's a whole thing going on about the best known for. I think dropping that phrasing entirely is likely the best idea. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:56, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
I removed best known for, and I just dropped the total number of subs for the sidemen, as anyone interested can just click through to that article. Now we don't have to bother trying to keep the lead of this article updated with the total subscriber count for a group of people that aren't him. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:12, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
User:ScottishFinnishRadish I agree with removing best known for, however I do think that total subs for the Sidemen should be in the lead because that's a pretty big milestone that's been covered in The Times, BBC News etc and KSI is the co-founder of it so it would make sense to mention it in brief in this article. That's what I said in my original edit request which User:FormalDude accepted, the only change being that BBC News source should be updated with The Times source since that's a lot more recent. Also, singer has once again been removed from the lead without any edit summary. —2402:E280:2316:74:3D84:8B9E:B05E:D1F6 (talk) 18:08, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
