Licensing[edit]

The article infobox says KaiOS is closed source. But reference 1 links to a KaiOS FAQ page answering the question "Can I access the source code?" That then links to the KaiOS Tech GitHub group, where they maintain at least some open source core components like gecko-b2g. From skimming the list of GitHub repositories, I would guess it's probably not everything, though.

The Mozilla Public License does allow extensions using other licenses, but requires the original source files continue to use the MPL. So would it be more accurate to say that KaiOS is partly open source? Or is it moot, if the overall distribution is proprietary? --Android the Andrew (talk) 22:51, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Source code repository[edit]

The GitHub username and repository link previously referenced by Wikidata are not related to the KaiOS project described on this page.

I have removed these two attributes from the Wikidata entry. --Kchr (talk) 07:17, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Synopsis and first two paragraphs of history are almost identical[edit]

Due to this the article feels very repetitive at the beginning and IMHO is unpleasant to read.

Thus the two sections should be revised to not duplicate more info than absolutely necessary.

Page for GerdaOS?[edit]

Do you think GerdaOS is notable? Currently [GerdaOS] redirects to [KaiOS].

I've found these two sources only. Do they count?

Are the sources by BananaHackers considered reliable?[edit]

For information about jailbreak, rooting, sideloading apps and modding the device BananaHackers have several articles in their Wiki and the website:

https://wiki.bananahackers.net https://bananahackers.net

Can these be used as source of information in this article?

Technically smartphone os?[edit]

If the Symbian S60 based Nokia 6120 classic is considered a smartphone wouldn't KaiOS phones also be considered smartphones under the same definition? 2001:8003:ED34:4000:6AAD:E7E4:BE6C:5D72 (talk) 22:20, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
