Why there is no any entry on Savo Saami, Häme Saami, Uusimaa Saami or Skaane Saami then? Is there any refference on Kainuu Saame?

There's never been Sámi presence in Scania, but other than that, good question. Far as I know, "Kainuu Sami" is not a recorded or clearly defined Sami idiom, all explicit knowledge of it comes thru substratal placenames, and the term simply refers to whatever kind of Sámi used to be spoken in Kainuu (this may have been the same as Kemi Sami, or it may have not).

"Unclassified languages of Europe"?[edit]

Validity[edit]

I would like to point out since I've read about this topic a bit now: multiple historians and linguists, one cited in this very article, think that there are no well reasoned arguments as to why Kainuu Sámi would've existed. At the time when there were Sámi people in Kainuu, the Sámi languages had not split off from each other to the same extent as they have nowadays. There is no solid reason to think that Kainuu Sámi would've been a separate language from Kemi Sámi. Place names of Sámi origin in Kainuu can be understood even based on Inari Sámi. I think we should discuss about whether this article should even remain, if the language of the article should be changed such as Kainuu Sámi is a hypothetical language or something along those lines, or just scrap the language approach entirely (after all, there were Sámi *people* in Kainuu once upon a time and I made an article about that on Finnish Wikipedia some time ago fi:Kainuunsaamelaiset). This article is linked to from multiple other articles. Other articles like Sámi history have just copied lines from this article without linking sources. I think it's reasonable to think about the ethics of this article remaining as it is considering the possibility it's spreading misinformation. --Vilutar (talk) 14:20, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
