On the community name[edit]

It is fairly common across the Sahel to have clustered communities that each have a different ethnic profile and economic focus (livelihood and ethnicity were traditionally, and still are to varying degrees, associated). This pattern was discerned in archeological digs in the area around Djenné (in present-day Mali), for instance. And it is reflected today in names like Kankamogre-Peulh, which though presumably named as such during the French colonization of what is now Burkina Faso, may have existed for some time before. The formula I used (with appropriate citation) in my recent edit of this article could be a model for briefly calling attention to this kind of situation in articles about other communities in the region with an ethnonym as part of their names. There may also be justification for a new article on rural community / settlement patterns in the Sahel.--A12n (talk) 18:04, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
