Karaikal without a mention of Karaikal Ammaiyar?[edit]

Population figures conflict[edit]

The population given in the Infobox of 86,838 is in direct conflict with the figures given in the demographics section of the article of 227,589. I have no access to the original data at this time to verify either figure. Perhaps the original contributor can explain or spot the error?
