Station name[edit]

I don't know why its name "Kawran Bazar" because its official name actually "Karwan Bazar". See this pdf file published by DMTCL. It mentioned its name as Karwan Bazar. Also many newspaper mentioned the place as Karwan Bazar, for example see here. We should seriously consider rename the page @Umair Sikder and @DoraShin15. We need to see which spelling the station will use. Actually, Kawran Bazar is more common than Karwan Bazar. Names on Wikipedia doesn't consider officiality, but the name more widely used. DoraShin15, 02:55, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@DoraShin15 Its true that Wikipedia prefers common name. but it isn’t common name, it is the alternative spelling of the name and DMTCL doesn’t use the alternative spelling as the station name. The website includes the name Karwan. There is a possibility that it will be used at the station building. Many newspapers and TV channels actually use the name Karwan including Prothom Alo, Jago News, RTV, The Daily Star, Bangla News 24, Independent Television, BD News 24, Somoy TV etc. And that proves its commonality. But yes of course some government website use "Kawran". But they use it as the name of the place, not station. And considering the points I mentioned it is better to rename the article to match up with the official website of DMTCL. Also, it is not controversial to use the name Karwan Bazar considering the understanding of the people and the usage of the name in newspapers and TV which match with the DMTCL website. Also it is no that the name Kawran is more used than Karwan. They are used almost independently equal. Mehedi Abedin 05:24, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

both are used, but. if you look at the history section of Kawran Bazar wiki page it was established by a man named "Kawran Singh", "In the late 18th century, a market was established in the area by Kawran Singh, a Marwari trader." My take on this matter is to keep the station name as it is and when the station opens we will change it if the naming on the exterior and the audio announcement of the train labels the place as "Karwan Bazar".
