Although I don't feel I have enough information to edit the article, Wiley is notable. He has been featured in the Believer magazine and will be a part of "Recognize! Wiley's painting Le Roi a la Chasse is displayed in the permanent collection of the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas in Austin. I agree he is sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia.--Euthman (talk) 18:42, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article says that Wiley identifies as bisexual. This is incorrect. Both of the sources cited say he identifies as gay. In the second source he says he is not bisexual.

Racist[edit]

Many people believe Wiley is racist just because he chooses to only paint portraits of African American/black people. I can assure you that he is not. The reason that he only paints black/African american people is because this is the essence of his art. You wouldn't ever think to see a black person on a great white stallion, wearing gold jewelry, and showing the power that they have. Kehinde wants and needs us to start thinking this way. Organization of article[edit]

DynaGirl The only content I removed was duplicate information about Wiley being selected to paint Obama, which is now redundant as the painting has its own section. Most of the references was simply about Wiley selected,but if some of them have valuable other information they can of course be included elsewhere in the article. Otherwise, I do think the paintings sections should follow directly after the Career section, they are kind of subsection to his overall painting career. Personal life should be near the end, not in the middle, and it's also normal to have recognition at the end.Iselilja (talk) 17:01, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Who paints Kehinde's Paintings?[edit]

The vast majority of Kehinde's work is undertaken by workshops of dozens of uncredited Chinese assistants who churn out paintings based on his 'ideas'. It would be interesting to ascertain to what degree Kehinde contributes to each of his works and whether such credit is warranted if that contribution is less than (say) 50%. It is also a story that speaks to the nature of modern art; the Gallery and Retail space that encourages the fabrication of factory-made 'art' that sells off of celebrity rather than any inherit value. The level of artistic ownership that supposedly differentiates between the $500,000 'original' and the $50 copy available at any asian tourist hotspot is becoming increasingly intangible.
