The article is generally pretty tidy, no major problems but it is perhaps lacking detail in a few places. Nothing that should prove too difficult to resolve, so I'm putting the article on hold.

  • Fahey's playing position should be more prominent. It is not mentioned in the lead, and it is not mentioned in the body until about a decade into his professional career.
  • Many well developed football biographies have a "playing style" section. Is there sufficient material available to add one?
  • What were the "disciplinary reasons" for his Drogheda exit?
  • Not sure we need the "numerous reports to the contrary" about the Aston Villa non-appearance, that part can be explained in the footnote.
  • A few bits of football terminology could do with appropriate wikilinks for the unfamiliar reader, such as "sent off", and "transfer window".
  • Worth mentioning that Birmingham were in the Football League Championship when Fahey joined, and likewise, that promotion was to the Premier League.
  • Fahey made his Premier League debut in front of 76,000 fans at Old Trafford in the starting eleven as Birmingham lost their first match of the 2009–10 season 1–0 to Manchester United. This overeggs things a bit. Is the crowd figure relevant? This is also the only thing mentioned for the whole season, surely some other things of note occurred?
  • Barry Ferguson and Lee Bowyer left the club when they were relegated - Best to first state that the club were relegated, and then deal with things that happened as a consequence.
  • Do any sources mention anything about his life outside football? While there's often little for players who aren't household names, I feel obliged to ask.
  • Nicknames such as The Blues should be in italics, not quotes.
  • Fahey impressed as Pats played Hertha Berlin in the first round of the 2008–09 UEFA Cup. "Danger man Fahey was quieter than usual" as Pats lost 2–0 in the first leg at the Olympiastadion. I realise the "impressed" part mainly refers to the second leg, but this comes across as contradictory.
  • I see one of his Ireland goals was a penalty, is he a regular penalty taker?
  • The lead is a little thin, and could do with a few more details being added.

  1. Now mentioned in the lead.
  2. Hmm, that's an interesting point, it's one I'll have to look up and see if I can sort it soon.
  3. I haven't found anything that is a pure "discipline" reason, but I can find something about that departure, so I'll change the prose and ref it.
  4. Done, feel free to highlight any more that need doing.
  5. Done.
  6. Removed figure, will look to add more for the season shortly.
  7. Rewritten.
  8. I don't think so, he seems to be a very private guy, and the compassionate leave saga reinforces that.
  9. Changed the one I can see, feel free to point out any I've missed.
  10. That pair of sentences is a mess, I've cleaned it up.
  11. I'm not aware of Fahey being a regular penalty taker, I can't recall him taking any for Birmingham, but that doesn't mean much!
  12. Expanded a little bit, what would you like me to add?
Looks good so far. Oldelpaso (talk) 20:13, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I can't really find enough information on Fahey's playing style in reliable sources to justify a section. Have you got any further suggestions? Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 20:25, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If there's not enough out there, then that's the way it is. If this was a featured article nomination it would be a stumbling block, but its not a problem for GA, where the criteria call for an article to address "the main aspects of the topic", so not every aspect has to go into detail. Of course, there's nothing stopping any little bits you have found on playing style going in an appropriate place elsewhere in the article. But in terms of passing the nomination, I'd regard increasing the detail on his two Premier League seasons — the highest level he has played club football — as more important. With that done I'd be happy to pass the article. Oldelpaso (talk) 13:58, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • The lack of info on his Bluebell days would also prevent this from ever being a FA, although I have never involved myself in those. I just fell across something for the playing style, but I'm not sure if CaughtOffside is reliable enough for use (source: [1]) As to the EPL stuff, I've added some more: if you want more, tell me and I'll go fishing :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 14:38, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've now passed the article. And yes, Caughtoffside isn't the most reliable, little more than an aggregated set of blogs. Oldelpaso (talk) 18:42, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
