Release rumor[edit]

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/59292-mr-kennedy-release-rumors --Falegas (talk) 13:08, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, did you even see the date on that article...like what, September '08? Anyway, now that his return is just 'round the corner anyway, it's not likely. --Kaizer13 (talk) 15:03, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh right. My bad.--Falegas (talk) 16:15, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I guess I jinxed it. That or the famous Bob Holly curse. --Kaizer13 (talk) 00:46, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page Name[edit]

His Page name link needs changing from Mr. Kennedy to Ken Anderson as he no longer uses or has license to the "Ken Kennedy" or "Mr Kennedy" trademarks, so technically cannot be referred to as this previous name(s). 91.107.179.134 (talk) 02:23, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia article are named by their most commons names. See WP:COMMONNAME for more information. In addition, the page Ken Anderson already exists, so the article cannot be renamed to Ken Anderson. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 02:24, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In that case 90% of wrestlers pages need to be redone. For example, Christian is under the name Jason Reso, Edge is under Adam Copeland. In addition, his Mr Kennedy name is no longer in use as it was trademarked by WWE and he now performs under Mr. Anderson as can be seen here: http://www.hulkamania.com.au/bios.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.31.253 (talk) 11:53, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But he is NOT Mr. Kennedy, the WWE would say he is Ken Anderson playing the ROLE of Mr. Kennedy. It's entertainment, like a movie, a stage name. It would be like having Sacha Baron Cohen's be the name Borat or Brüno, it's a role he played. But he is Sacha Baron Cohen, and he is Ken Anderson. Yes? No? Comment?!

I've always thought it would make a lot more sense to list the pro wrestlers' pages under the person't real name, with '(wrestling)' (or somesuch) as a qualifier if necessary, and redirect their stage name(s) to that page. I mean, they are actors, after all. We should really do that here. Petronivs (talk) 18:15, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hes not known as Mr. Kennedy anymore. Hes in TNA now, give the man some respect. It's: MIIISTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER ANDERSON!....... Anderson! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.159.1 (talk) 21:18, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kenton bomb[edit]

I edited it because he did the move on TNA but missed it. The Match between him and Jarret —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.7.225.159 (talk) 13:31, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

I propose changing article's name to Ken Anderson. It is his real name and it his the name under which he has performed in 1999-2005 and since 2009. Considering TNA is a major promotion you can't say he is more famous as Mr. Kennedy. Do you agree? AndreaFox2 (talk) 19:18, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As no one objected my proposal i'll change the page name to "Mr.Anderson", a name suggested above by other users. AndreaFox2 (talk) 17:30, 28 May 2010 (UTC) i also think that the page should change the name to Mr.Anderson--85.167.194.251 (talk) 13:01, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, TNA is as prominent as the WWE in the wrestling world, and Anderson is currently wrestling in that promotion as Mr Anderson. As such i believe this to be the most relevant title to the page. Tory88 (talk) 19:58, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with all of the above. カンチョーSennen Goroshi ! 또라이 (talk) 18:05, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was shocked it was still listed as Mr. Kennedy, yeah change it already. lol--Dr. Pizza (talk) 02:42, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, it only makes sense at this point that the article be changed to "Ken Anderson". He's been pushed extremely heavily on TNA now under the Mr. Anderson name, to the point where he's even competing in a TNA Championship match at their largest pay-per-view of the year. Ken Anderson, being his real name, covers the ground of his career in both companies, and at this point he's arguably more thought of by the "Mr. Anderson" name than his previous. --Josh (talk) 18:49, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further inspection, the "Kenneth Anderson" page that "Ken Anderson" redirects to links to several other notable persons with the real name Ken(neth) Anderson, whereas the "Mr. Anderson" article mentions only Neo from the Matrix, (who people will look for under the name Neo,) and a character from Beavis and Butthead not notable enough for his own article. Therefore, in the context of Wikipedia, "Mr. Anderson" is the most appropriate option to list him under. --Josh (talk) 18:58, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted. I don't care if you move the article, but copy-and-paste moves are not aceeptable, as it splits the page history which is required for attribution. Either use the 'move' tab at the top of the article, or file a requested move. Also please do not just overwrite a disambiguation page. In this case, the correct place to which to move the article would be Mr. Anderson (wrestler). ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 05:59, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see the 'move' tab at the top of this article. AndreaFox2 (talk) 17:16, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm assuming you're using the vector skin. Alright, beside the star (meaning watch/unwatch) at the top right of the screen, there's a arrow pointing down. If you move your mouse over that you get a dropdown menu, which includes a link entitled 'move'. You use that to move articles. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 08:21, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Family Feud[edit]

I have believe that Ken Anderson is slated to be on the new season of Family Feud with some of the TNA stars and knockouts. This would be his second apperance on the show since he did one with the WWE and if you want proof take a look here: http://www.tnawrestling.com/news/item/2228-TNA-Week-On-TV-s-Family-Feud-Nov-1-5 Misslindsie (talk) 07:43, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. KennedyKen Anderson (wrestler) — He works for TNA now and Mr. Kennedy is a name owned by WWE. You guys said you had no problem with moving this article but someone just didn't do it right so I'm doing it this way.--Voices in my Head WrestleMania XXVII 00:15, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For that matter, wouldn't "Mr. Kennedy" be more likely to refer to JFK or another member of the Kennedy family? Ucucha 03:17, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move, and disambiguate the current title, since it is more likely to refer to JFK, RFK, or EMK. 65.95.14.34 (talk) 05:50, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Question, What The F&*K are you two talking about? What does John F. Kennedy have anything to do with this?--Voices in my Head WrestleMania XXVII 17:34, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think the arugment being presented that Mr. Kennedy should link to a dab page and not redirect here on the ground that someone typing Mr. Kennedy is more like looking for John F Kennedy, his brother, or uncle than the wrestler.--76.66.180.54 (talk) 22:03, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Let's try to keep the conversation civil, please. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 22:33, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move - It's highly doubtful someone searching for Mr. Kennedy is looking for JFK. More likely than not, they're looking for Mr. Kennedy, or as he was previously known (and is presently known), Mr. Anderson (No, not you, Neo). That said, I doubt a Disambiguation is needed. A simple redirect will do fine. Also support move per BLP naming conventions. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 22:33, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose (Somewhat Strongly) Changed position. Reasoning per User:Feedback below. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 11:35, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Suppport Makes sense to me. --Kumioko (talk) 08:25, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly Oppose Mr. Kennedy is his WP:COMMONNAME. It is irrelevant wether or not WWE owns his name or not. Whats relevant is what name would the casual reader know him as and because WWE has 100x the fanbase TNA has, Mr. Kennedy is easily the Commonname. As for concerns about confusion with the Kennedys, thats why there is a hatnote on the top. Per WP:HATNOTE, that is completely sufficient. Feedback 09:35, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Feedback makes a good point, especially under WP:COMMONNAME. While it is true that most people probably would know him as his time spent as Mr. Kennedy in WWE due to their significantly larger fanbase, it is also fair to assume that - being gone from WWE for over a year and a half, he, as Mr. Kennedy, has been all but forgotten by a significant portion of that fanbase. I'm not going to pick over numbers, but it is a reasonable assumption to assume that one way or another, Mr. Kennedy is still the commonly known name. Per that, I think I'll change my vote. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 11:35, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with gohans points. WP commonname is the ruling policy, maybe after another year in TNA we can reconsider. Sephiroth storm (talk) 15:11, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You guys said the same thing back when I tried to move Nick Nemeth to Dolph Ziggler back in August and then a few weeks ago you all said Ziggler was the common name. And I bet if someone else tries to move this yall will say yes.--Voices in my Head WrestleMania XXVII 21:13, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was not involved in, nor had anything to do with, that Dolph Ziggler move in anyway, though I would've supported it - for the record - as Dolph Ziggler is the name he is most commonly known by. Once again, please remain civil and let's keep the generally directed attacks on other editors out of it. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 19:57, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Oppose... Oppose: What these guys said. Can't beat the System, foo'. --Kaizer13 (talk) 21:29, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose...for now -- he hasn't done anything in TNA that can compete with the success he has had in WWE. His name of "Mr.Kennedy" has garnered him in titles, memorable matches, accomplishments, appearances on television. --Truco 503 18:44, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but you do have to look at the fact that Kennedy is an all but forgotten name to the WWE Universe. Last time I went to a WWE event I saw someone wear a Kennedy T-Shirt and everyone's faces seemed to say "Who The FUCK is that superstar's T-shirt." I'm not making this up, they didn't say it but the expression on their faces did.--Voices in my Head WrestleMania XXVII 19:39, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per WP:WHATDOSHIRTVIEWERSFACESLOOKLIKE. Actually, maybe I'll remain neutral. GaryColemanFan (talk) 04:58, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - He's still very well known by Mr. Kennedy, and has had more success and notable achievements under that name, than Mr. Anderson. The expressions people had in regards to someone's t-shirt are inconsequential. Hazardous Matt (talk) 20:17, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Heel turn (2011-present)"[edit]

It's not really a heel turn is it? He faked the heel move, then Mic checked some of Immortal. He's just more a tweener IMO, don't you agree? The Madras (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is exactly the reason I've been opposed to stating face / heel at any point in ANY wrestling related article. It inherently is a violation WP:NPOV no matter HOW you try to look at it as someone's always going to have a different perspective. One man's villian is another man's hero. Page moved to Ken Anderson (wrestler). Vegaswikian (talk) 23:07, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. KennedyKenneth Anderson (wrestler) — The reason I am suggesting the move to this page is because that is his real name and could also possibly put a end to all this drama simply because he's been with WWE for just 5 years and is currently with TNA for 2 years. On the last propose everyone was claming that Mr.Kennedy is his common name, well I just did a simple search to try that and the only news I've gotten is 2009 news. So hopefully this move won't be one sided. 4urge (talk) 19:04, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.

Support - He;s not wrestled as Mr. Kennedy for years; he's won two world championships under the name Mr. Anderson. It really makes no sense to continue listing him as a name he dropped years ago. It's like having Scott Hall still listed as Razor Ramon.

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:
Is he most often called by the full name Kenneth or or the shortened version Ken. If he is most often called Ken the name should be at Ken Anderson (wrestler).--76.66.188.209 (talk) 19:38, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion this article should be listed as Ken Anderson(Wrestler) as he seams to get ken quite a bit. Everytime I hear him mentioned people seam to be calling him ken. However redirects should be set up to the original title of the article and Kenneth Anderson(Wrestler). (Ruth-2013 (talk) 22:21, 10 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]
He is mostly called by Mr. Anderson in TNA, and generally known as Mr. Kennedy. It's the latter why this article has renamed known as "Mr. Kennedy". For more information, reference WP:COMMONNAME. That said, if moved at all, I'm personally for a move to Ken Anderson (wrestler) if we're still going to follow "common name" policy with regards to WP:BLP's. I'd boldly state hardly anyone knows him as Kenneth Anderson. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 23:13, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Mr. Kennedy[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page not moved. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:24, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ken Anderson (wrestler)Mr. Kennedy – I never noticed the page was moved to Ken Anderson. Article titles should be decided based on their common name. (WP:COMMONNAME). His common name will either be Mr. Kennedy or Mr. Anderson, not his full birth name. That being said, I find it very questionable that anyone will say that Mr. Kennedy is not his common name. I've watched him wrestle in WWC and TNA under "Mr. Anderson" and I still refer to him as Mr. Kennedy just like most professional wrestling, videogame and B-movie aficionados on this planet. Feedback 15:02, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose This was just discussed less than two months ago. Kjscotte34 (talk) 15:24, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Per the same common name policy cited by the proposer. Kenneth Anderson is his full birth name, not "Ken" Anderson. "Ken" is what he is referred to by, similar to how persons referred to Batista on-camera as "Dave" (and you'll notice the title of his article is Dave Batista) (Note: This is not an "Other Stuff Exist" argument, it is merely an example). To Feedback, however, I must ask who these "professional wrestling, video game and B-movie afficiandos on this planet" are?[who?]. I'll also point out that your statement of, "I find it very questionable that anyone will say Mr. Kennedy is not his common name", and the statements which followed seem to be more an addressing of your own perspective rather than an actual addressing of facts on the ground. Please don't take that personal. I'm just providing something to think over. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 15:56, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The "aficionados" that I mentioned basically entails anyone who knows of his existence. The people who either (1) Watch wrestling or have casually passed by WWE TV, (2) Play WWE videogames without actually watching wrestling (there are quite a few) or (3) Have had the pleasure of enjoying Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia. These people know this fellow as Mr. Kennedy. Only the people who have a devoted following to professional wrestling online (such as the members of WP:PW) know that he utilizes the name "Mr. Anderson" outside the WWE. Under no circumstance however is "Ken Anderson" his common name. The people who refer to him as Ken are people who either know him, have figured out his name online or have heard his first name on TV in passing. He has always been announced as "Mr. Kennedy" in WWE and OVW or "Mr. Anderson" in TNA, WWC and other independent wrestling promotions. The idea here is that if you show a picture of this man to a randdom 100 people, who will they call him? Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Anderson or Ken Anderson? Most probably won't know him, but those who know him will mostly say Mr. Kennedy. Feedback 16:43, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Negating the fact that he went by Mr. Anderson in OVW before changing to Mr. Kennedy - on your points of the random survey and who-knows-what, I still challenge you to actually prove that statement otherwise it sounds like original research. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 17:52, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I say a move to Mr Kennedy would be suitable here...--Deely1 17:06, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Anderson's been known variously as Mr. Anderson, Ken Kennedy and Mr. Kennedy. Common name doesn't work so well here. He had a bigger audience as Mr. Kennedy, yes, but those same fans that knew him under that name may also refer to him as Mr. Anderson now. If he was just working the indy circuit and not with TNA, I'd support this, but TNA has some notoriety too since it has a TV deal. So you could also argue Mr. Anderson is common too, since it's his current ring name in TNA and his primary ring name outside of WWE. --Jtalledo (talk) 20:52, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that Mr. Anderson and Ken Kennedy are both common names as well, but WP:UCN states we should use the most common name. That would be Mr. Kennedy. Feedback 20:58, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The concept of a "common" name is hard to apply here. While "Mr. Kennedy" was what he was best known as before, his common name is now Mr. Anderson, since that's the name by which he is now called. WWE names as "common" names is an okay rule of thumb, but it's not a catch-all solution for article naming. Ken Anderson is not a perfect compromise, but it is the best solution for now. --Jtalledo (talk) 13:54, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose "Mr. Kennedy" should be a disambiguation page, or redirect to John F. Kennedy, the president. 76.65.129.5 (talk) 04:42, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Due to Mr. Kennedy not being the most common name of any other subject, policy states that a hatnote directing to the disambiguation page suffices. It is a similar situation to The Miz and Steve Mizerak. Mizerak is known as The Miz, but due to it not being his most common name, he has no actual claim to the article title. Therefore, The Miz is allowed to keep it, but a hatnote is kept in place that directs the reader towards Steve Mizerak. I hope that I wasn't too confusing for you. Feedback 09:48, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe, based on my understanding of WP:HATNOTE, that Feedback is accurate in what he states here. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 13:34, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose With all due respect, I find the rationale for the move to be faulty. While the nominator may identify the subject as "Mr Kennedy", as editors we must remain neutral when it comes to personal opinions. Remember that wrestling articles on Wikipedia are not just for wrestling fans. They must be comprehensible and relevant to non-fans. And to a non-fan "Ken Anderson, aka Mr Anderson" is how the subject is best known today. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 17:58, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. His most common name is "Mr. Anderson". That Ken Anderson is Mr. Anderson is a straightforward and obvious name variation, like Bill Clinton and President Clinton. Kauffner (talk) 03:26, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Result: Kept Agreement that it should be kept AIRcorn (talk) 01:29, 23 August 2020 (UTC).[reply]

The article has several problems. One, has huge parts unsourced, like both Independent Circuit section or the TNA final feuds. Some titles are unsourced to. Needs an uptade about his NWA work. Also, the prose can be improved, it's like "on Day 1, he had a match. On day 2, he had a match." Lead can be improved. No mention of his work as box announcer. Missing style and persona(not obligatory, buy helpful) Also, minor In-Universe problems ("he put Shaw into a van heading for a psychiatric facility for intervention.") --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:28, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I copyedited the WWE section, the rest still needs to be done. JTP (talkcontribs) 03:49, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think I got everything now, let me know what you think. JTP (talkcontribs) 19:32, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The article has improved a lot. The main issue, unsourced sections, are sources. Just one tiny thing, Online World of Wrestling isn't reliable. Maybe, prose sections can be improved, TNA section has a lot of weekly details and some "in-universe", like the sam shaw storyline. But I think just the change of OWOW source would be enough. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 22:01, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I think the missing Professional wrestling style and persona would be very helpful. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 22:44, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - All, I've had a quick read of the post-2008 content (which was added after the GA review), and made a couple of copyedits. Sourcing is sufficient, although a source is needed about his video game character. The prose is adequate, but could do with more tweaking to be encyclopaedic. As it stands, however, I think this can stay as a GA. L150 19:48, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
