360[edit]

I don't think [1] can be accepted as a reliable source. The name in question, Zach Shaw, is listed as one of the sources for the page, meaning the only source for the claim is this Zach Shaw person himself. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 20:19, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And I'd like to advise 123.243.35.22 not to simply remove material he does not like. If you want to discuss about the 360, I'm open to it, but those edits took out material unrelated to that, for no apparent reason. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 20:23, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note also that he was referred to as a pioneer but no mention as to why, and that the claims I removed were false too. I'm not terribly concerned with providing references, as a quick Google or flick through a BMX history contradicts these claims. I'm more concerned with accurate information being presented. 123.243.35.22 (talk) 01:27, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If anything in the article is not backed by sources, you are certainly free to challenge it by adding something like {{cn}}. It's generally advisable to flat-out remove only if the content in question is highly dubious _and_ highly contentious. Frankly, adding "incorrectly credited" and "oh it was actually Zach Shaw" is what's contentious. If you're making claims, it's on you to cite them. Obviously, the links present when I first wrote this article were all live at the time, so if there's anything that seems unreferenced, it's a recent development. I'll take a close look at the article tomorrow sometime (too tired now, been real busy IRL the last few days) to see what, if anything, needs improvement. And remember that the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. We have to go by what the sources say. And making contentious edits and shirking the responsibility of sourcing them, while removing content wholesale at the same time, is not really the way to go about things.
