Ken Thomson vs Thomson Corporation[edit]

Do we really need to have the business history in paragraph 4? I don't see how that's really relevant to Ken Thomson, even if the acts were done while he was running the business. It should be merged into Thomson Corporation, and the remainder of the paragraph merged into the rest of this article. --coldacid 22:37, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That Paul Kane painting[edit]

The article says:

In order to ensure that at least some of the work of important Canadian artists remained in his native country, in 2002 he paid the highest price ever for a painting by a Canadian artist when he purchased Paul Kane's "Scene from the Northwest: Portrait of John Henry Lefroy."

This needs a citation. I have meanwhile found a confirmation that the painting was indeed bought by Ken Thomson, but the reason given strikes me as completely fabricated. Both the National Gallery of Canada and the Royal Ontario Museum have substantial holdings of Kane paintings, both oil canvases and field sketches. BTW, Thomson paid C$5,062,500 for that painting (see Paul Kane). Lupo 11:43, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
