Delete most of Stub text[edit]

There must be plenty of information about Brooks available from reliable sources now. I deleted most of the Stub lead with good reasons, I believe.

Previously we said "best known for his novels Lucas and iBoy (winner of the North East Book Award 2004) and Martyn Pig (winner of the Branford Boase Award 2003). His books were published by The Chicken House."

  1. Kevin Brooks at British Council: Literature lists publisher Chicken House for merely 5 of 16 books that it lists--including the first two, which is worth saying in prose here.
  2. iBoy was published six years later, in 2010. It is not one of his titles most widely held in WorldCat libraries.[1]
  3. None of those three books is among his most widely held in WorldCat participating libraries.[2]

Page history shows that most of this goes back to the original Version created 2007-02-12, where Lucas not iBoy was the 2004 NEBA award winner.

Most of that moderately long original text has been deleted for some time. No doubt it will be easy to do much better now, especially with the Brit Council "Biography" (unsigned, undated) and "Critical Perspective" by Elizabeth O'Reilly 2009.

Following the new lead paragraph, which I did save after edit conflict, I had written a bit more, which I cut because User:Qwfp is --or very recently was-- working on a Section 1.
material not saved
[!-- need Section 1 heading here -->
"Brooks was born in Pinhoe on the outskirts of Exeter in Devonshire, England.
"His debut novel Martyn Pig was published by The Chicken House in 2002. He won the next annual Branford Boase Award, which recognizes an outstanding [British?] novel for young people by a first-time writer. [!-- copied from the lead sentence of our award article -->
'bye for now

I added coverage of the debut novel and its award. --P64 (talk) 20:13, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
