Grammar[edit]

Changed instances of "is" to "his" where grammatically needed. ~ Kylu

merge?[edit]

Copied from Talk:Khelben: I proposed the merger, as this article should be used to expand the section Novel and game appearances in Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun. Khelben would be a good redirect page, though. Poulsen 16:32, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is Khelben human or half-elf? His bio-block states his humanity, but in the "History" section it states that he is half-elven...? Any FR fans out there want to clarify?

It seems to me that his father, Arun Maerdrym, is the half-elf referenced in the article. That would make Khelben human, since a quarter-elf is effectively a human in the Forgotten Realms. You're right, though, it could stand to be clarified. Gitman00 14:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He is widely regarded to be a human and has lived several mortal lives as a human. Yet he is technically a half elf, born to an elf and a human. As it says in The City of Splendors (5th paragraph in the novel), "Briefly, all eyes could see him as Laeral did: tall, ageless, elf-blooded, feral as a rampant dragon, barely recognizable as a mortal being." It seems to me that his life was as much of a contradiction as the article... Thestorm042 03:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He is three quarters human (his mother, Arielimnda, was human) and one quarter elf (his father, Arun Maerdrym, was a half-elf). — Quin 05:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could we get a source on his death? Not sure if it's vandalism or not... 128.194.34.104 04:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The death happened, as described here, in the novel Blackstaff. Thestorm042 03:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Self-contradiction[edit]

Added the "contradict" template to the History section. It says at one point, "These days, retired from his role as Masked Lord of Waterdeep, Khelben spends his time..." while in the next paragraph it says he died. This should be clarified. Gitman00 14:46, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I cleaned and added a bit to the last paragraph. 24.6.47.206 21:44, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary sources? Reviews?[edit]

The article was recently prodded for deletion with the argument "Fails WP:GNG and WP:NOTPLOT". So in order to stay a separate article, it needs more than the one secondary source. Does anyone know any? There was at least one novel about the character, maybe there are reviews out there which can help? Thanks for all input! Daranios (talk) 10:37, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
