Wikipedia is not a news website[edit]

@KTerPalmers and @Chompy Ace: What makes this killing notable? Nothing in the article suggests this killing is notable. Please explain why you think it merits having a separate article. Wikipedia is not a news website. Although this killing is mentioned at List of journalists killed in the Philippines § 2023, that does not make the killing, itself, a notable crime. For a news event like this to be notable enough to merit its own article it needs to meet certain criteria. Among them is having a lasting effect, as well as in-depth and ongoing coverage. Creating an article only a day or so after the event seems rather hasty to me. The dust has not settled on this news story, yet, and we don't yet know the outcome of any police investigation, so perhaps it is too soon to write this article properly.
