Why Is she not Dear Leader?[edit]

If she is older than Kim jong-un, why is she not leader? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.4.255.36 (talk) 02:03, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Despite suggestions to the contrary, there is no order of succession in North Korea.--Jack Upland (talk) 10:23, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rumors of death[edit]

At this point, it seems more a rumor than fact. Some sources are using the term "rumored" in their reporting (1). Not sure we should include in the list until it's confirmed per WP:BLP. EvergreenFir (talk) 22:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Korean news website The Cosun Ilbo said Pyongyang intelligence services believe she is dead but have not been able to confirm it." from Express. EvergreenFir (talk) 22:29, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The New Zealand Herald, which has always been a reliable source in the past, is reporting she has died. Also, the Brisbane Times, the Calgary Herald, etc., are all reporting her death.Juneau Mike (talk) 03:51, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
They appear to be reporting "sources say". Have we had any confirmation or large newsgroup reporting it (thinking bbc, cbc, npr, ap, afp). IMO, until we can WP:VERIFY, it should stay off the page. EvergreenFir (talk) 04:12, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. While it appears to be true, we should wait. I suspect that by tomorrow, it will be confirmed. Until then...Juneau Mike (talk) 04:19, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Until then we say there have been unconfirmed rumours. The Chosun Ilbo is sufficiently reliable enough to take note of its reporting while not taking it as final. The latest from this source is that "the fate of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's aunt Kim Kyong-hui is unclear" but she is presumably alive. There is not a black/white distinction here like the moon is made of green cheese versus the moon orbits the earth. There is a continuum here and Wikipedia editors are, or should be, astute enough to provide information with due allowance for this in the manner the info is presented. Understand that Wikipedia is not silent on the point here. Wikipedia is rather currently actively contradicting the rumours by stating without qualification the subject is alive. If that information could be inaccurate then the reader should be duly warned. If the subject is at least noted to be possibly ailing readers will have been advised as to the possibility the subject is already deceased.--Brian Dell (talk) 15:26, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just on an entirely humorous note here, I find it amusing that the longest reply in this thread was in reply to my agreeing with consensus. Good reply, all meant in fun! Juneau Mike (talk) 00:17, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In more recent news it's said that her and all members of Jang Sung-taek's family have been executed. I find this very likely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.74.200.215 (talk) 04:31, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Hyon Song-wol turned up still alive, and a lack of reports of sightings hardly amounts to anything. Jang was publicly disgraced and executed, why would she disappear in secret?--Jack Upland (talk) 10:32, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And we've just had feverish media speculation about Kim Jong Un's "disappearance" that appeared to be nothing more than sick leave. These kind of rumours and hypotheses are considered newsworthy by reporters of North Korea, but Wikipedia is not news. I have removed all the speculation about Kim Kyong Hui's fate. This included that (a) she's been executed, (b) she's fallen out of favour, (c) she's sick, and (d) she's living in another country. There is nothing solid to support any of this. All we have are reports from outside sources that there have been no current pictures of her in the North Korean media since December. This means very little. According to the article she wasn't seen publicly between 2003 and 2009.--Jack Upland (talk) 23:21, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If she is dead, surely North Korea will announce it. She would either have a state funeral or she would be publicly condemned, like her husband.--Jack Upland (talk) 19:18, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Since people keep adding in the rumour, should we have a section "Rumors of death" to placate them?--Jack Upland (talk) 21:04, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have done this. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 06:48, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I just don't know how many of these stories we should include - for example, this one:[1]? How these defectors are able to obtain intimate medical information is unexplained. Perhaps it would be better to say that since her husband's execution there have been conflicting rumors that she is dead or very ill.--Jack Upland (talk) 11:49, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently she is still dying. Die hard with a vengeance? The film with Samuel L Jackson was good. Not so, The Phantom Menace. I've never seen The Night of the Living Dead. Is it available on Beta?--Jack Upland (talk) 11:16, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
