King's Quest VIII in Germany?[edit]

Not according to MobyGames and not according to my first edition copy of the game, and I'm from Germany. The game was titled King's Quest: Maske der Ewigkeit here and only a few third-party budget release versions had King's Quest VIII on the disc. Even then, the game itself was still titled Maske der Ewigkeit. MobyGames confirms that the Spanish release was also known as Mascara de Eterindad. Game-breaking Error in Some Copies?[edit]

I believe there was a critical fault within a fair number of copies of the game (including mine years ago) in which you ran into something during.. I believe it was the second chapter/location, that caused the game to experience a fatal error and crash. I was never able to complete it due to this problem. But I did hear they'd eventually made a fix for it. No information on that here? --68.111.242.170 (talk) 09:50, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fan Patch[edit]

I'm sure Collector and Tawmis don't appreciate hotlinking to files on their server, so I've removed the direct link to KQ8MaskSetup.exe and referenced the forum topic about it instead.

Other things worth mentioning: The fan patch is a collaboration between Collector and I, and the executable is based off the one included on the English v1.0.0.3 and Brazilian Portuguese cd-roms since the optical drive issues that plague GOG's version are not present in that copy. Phrase needs explanation:[edit]

"But followed a pattern in several other Sierra games to release games that lacked numerals in their titles but were intended to be continuations of the series, including:"

Should most-likely be "But it followed a pattern [...]" However, it gets less clear as one reads the rest of it: "in several other Sierra games to release games that lacked numerals[...]." That last part makes me think it could be "But here followed a pattern [...]" ...?

So the explanation needed is as follows: Was this the first one to miss the number, or was this one just one of the later ones to miss the number? (My question goes to people who would know more about the history of videogaming -mostly PC- than what I know or am willing to research at this time).

It would be a later game that missed a number (perhaps one of the last to follow the trend). Sierra had a history of choosing to leave off numbers in the box titles in many of their series, but still intending a game to be part of the main series numerally.Questfan (talk) 19:33, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you revert and delete my voice cast of characters on King's Quest 8?[edit]

To the Wikipedia user who runs King's Quest VIII Mask of Eternity. As you know, I was the one who did attempt to add in the voice cast as listed here. Please hear me out. I have proof that this credit list I'm showing you is real and official from the 1998 PC game.

Cast

  • Ben Houge - Ferryman, Skeletons
  • Bill Farmer - Weirding Tradesman, King Gryph
  • Daran Norris - King Graham, Weapon's Gnome, Ice Lord
  • Jan Rabson - Crystal Mystic, Henchman
  • Jennifer Darling - Wisp, Lady of the Lake, Unicorn
  • Jim Ward - Voice, Armor Gnome, Hillmen
  • Kevin Richardson - Prophet Tree, Lord Azriel, Lucreto
  • Kirsten Seibert - Gwennie
  • Marv Kav Bergman - Swamp Witch, Apothecary Gnome
  • Neil Ross - Spirit Knight, Archon, Wizard
  • Nick Jameson - Daventry Official, Sage Gnome
  • Philece Sampler - Wisp, Queen Freesa
  • Richard Horvitz - Wisp, Skeleton
  • Scott Bullock - Connor, King Mudge
  • Tasia Valenza - Sylph, Sarah

I can confirm that this is the official voice cast because I have seen this youtube video footage evidence proof of it. as seen in this link in the timeline 6:12 which shows the voice actor cast members from King's Quest VIII Mask of Eternity ending credits. [3]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xub5r6R8dC4&list=PLgIVjvSpYdFK4YqWKqqgXyfoTfok_Yg3Y&index=39

Since this is a real official voice actors credits. I suggest you restore my edit for King's Quest 8 since this is the actual voice actors for this wikipedia page. CrosswalkX (talk) 04:31, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@CrosswalkX: - Cast lists are discouraged per WP:VGSCOPE, see #11 on list of "Inappropriate content". Waxworker (talk) 04:39, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about? Why are you not allowing me to add the list of cast members on King's Quest VIII? And why is it inappropriate content? CrosswalkX (talk) 04:50, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Anyways here's the link to Mobygames which confirms the voice actors for King's Quest VIII Mask of Eternity at this link [4]https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/kings-quest-mask-of-eternity/credits

@CrosswalkX: - Please see WP:VGSCOPE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Video_games#Inappropriate_content) which explains why listing voice cast lists for video games are discouraged, and MobyGames is an unreliable source per WP:VG/RS. Okay then how about this Sierrahelp link which shows the PDF file of King's Quest VIII booklet Manuel credits on page 39. Would that be good enough proof to approve the voice cast credits back into King's Quest VIII? Here's the link [5]http://www.sierrahelp.com/Documents/Manuals/Kings_Quest_Mask_of_Eternity_-_Manual.pdf
Is this PDF Manuel from Sierra Help proof enough for the voice actor credits? CrosswalkX (talk) 05:54, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, a warning has been posted on User talk:CrosswalkX that the issue has been exhaustively and repeatedly resolved above by Waxworker. Thanks. — Smuckola(talk) 22:35, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I'll stop right now. I'm sorry I bothered the user Waxworker. Please accept my apology, I was confused about the Wikipedia policy I'm sorry I was a poor team member. I'm done with this talking. You may delete it. CrosswalkX (talk) 12:06, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
