Should we rename this article?[edit]

The article discusses the economic theory more than the slogan. Doesn't that mean we should we rename it to King Cotton theory or something like that? — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  04:31, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

keep. the slogan is about the economic power of cotton, and the theory explains why so. Rjensen (talk) 04:52, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Rjensen: Ok then. Fair enough.  — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  06:02, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Cotton diplomacy?[edit]

This article seems to cover a lot of the same ground as Cotton diplomacy. Would a merger be appropriate? Mobi Ditch (talk) 21:32, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request to add to 'British Position'[edit]

Hello,

I would like to add a sentence in-between '...British public opinion', and 'Even if Britain did intervene...'.

I would like to add a sentence that describes in short how Britain was against the idea of slavery, but seen as jealous of the economic progression in the States at the time, leading to increased tensions between the two (as written about by Matthew Karp in 'King Cotton, Emperor Slavery'). Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mperry34 (talk) 12:05, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like a good edit and an extra piece of information on an interesting topic, just make sure that you're using an RS B1GMelman613 (talk) 15:28, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
