Ellen the Terrible sounds great and Gethin, her name was Elen Gethin, can be translated as meaning "terrible" but the more usual translation is "olive skinned." As the Welsh bards composed many praise poems for Elen and called her Elen Gethin to her face it's hardly likely that they thought of her as Ellen the Terrible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.6.108.113 (talk) 18:02, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

History, wrong dates?[edit]

Hello everyone, in the History section: shouln't the mentioned years 1072 and 1074 in fact be 1172 and 1174? Regards, Sander1453 (talk) 10:11, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think so. Have changed it. 86.154.21.91 (talk) 14:31, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

The references to the naming of this town need sorting out. Firstly, there are multiple references to the speculated origin of the name scattered throughout the article; these need editing down to a single authoritative reference, supported by citation. Secondly the reference to the name coming from the supposedly Anglo-Saxon King's-ton (which looks like modern English to me) conflicts with the reference to the town being recorded in the domesday book as Chingtune. If the latter is true then the former reference is surely inaccurate MapReader (talk) 21:32, 15 December 2017 (UTC) MapReader (talk) 21:32, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
