Tolkien[edit]

"It has been plausibly suggested..." is probably not plausible for an encyclopedia and we need to know exactly who said it, otherwise the mention of Tolkien may have to be cut for lack of proof.--Kudpung (talk) 20:28, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Last troglodyte dwellings[edit]

Currently the article says "Kinver Edge is home to the last troglodyte dwellings occupied in England" this needs a source because there were similar dwellings in other parts of the area with suitable sandstone. For example there are the remains of a few houses opposite 42 Underhill Street Bridgnorth [1]. Also in Wolverley in the road the cuts around the parish Church of Saint John the Baptist [2] and the Queens Head car park contain similar dwellings and it is quite possible that some of the cottages in that village have such back rooms. A curious feature of Wolverley are the rock dwellings scattered over the parish, of which the most picturesque are at Blakeshall and Drakelow. (fn. 7) Cut in the side of the sandstone hill, some of these primitive dwellings are dry and warm, others, owing to the porous nature of the rock, become very damp, especially in winter.

There are also numerous other place where road cuttings into suitable sandstone may have dwelling rooms in their rear, see for example the road cutting in Lower Clent.[3].

Also there are modern homes built like this: 1, 2, 3. According to the first article by the BBC in 2003 there were 60 underground dwellings in Britain.
