Kitboga (streamer)Kitboga - I propose we move this page to just Kitboga, breaking the current redirect to Kitbuqa. All top Google search results, when searching for Kitboga, do not seem to refer to Kitbuqa. Just would like to gather some thoughts before making the big move. -- zaiisao (talk | contribs) 16:36, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - its a case of modern, fleeting popularity vs a long-term topic - so WP:NOPRIMARY. No objection to making Kiboga a disambiguation page, but I still don't see the need considering we have hatnotes. -- Netoholic @ 06:39, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have no objection to a dab page. It would be nice to know if Kitboga is an invented name, or if the streamer chose it after the historical figure (as I suspect). Srnec (talk) 16:23, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support because while Kitbuqa is more historically significant and thus equal or even greater in importance, I don't see evidence that "Kitboga" is a common alternative spelling for it, or even used anywhere by a reliable source. I found source that uses "Kit Boga" but that is different from Kitboga. The article itself mentions two alternative spellings but does not mention "Kitboga". Thus I think that the streamer is indeed primary for Kitboga. Would not be opposed to making Kitboga a disambiguation page too, however. • Oppose, and retain redirect to Kitbuqa. Looking at GBooks, this is clearly a much-used name for this 13th century Mongolian Christian warrior, and someone from that era who's still discussed today looks like they have a lot more long-term significance than a middle-of-the-road YouTuber who's been famous for the past two years only.  — Amakuru (talk) 22:18, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove mention of India from page[edit]

Would like to remove "...a majority of them operating from India." from this page. We do not know, and cannot prove at all, where these scammers come from, and Kitboga's focus has never been about the location or ethnicity of scammers; it is inappropriate to make assumptions. The location or ethnicity of the scammers has never been Kitboga's focus and he actively discourages people to assume where they think the scammers live. He calls any scammer from anywhere in the world, and does not make their locations public. This mention of "India", or any location/ethnicity in general, appears to be neither accurate nor relevant to the page.

Unless we can prove that "the majority of [the scammers Kitboga calls are from] India", this line should be removed. Kman (talk) 12:42, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not publish original research. It's not important what you think you or I can "prove", we reflect what is published in reliable sources. From the sources in the article: [1] the vast majority of which operate from India, [2], Most, but not all, have links to India, [3] Most scammers are low level workers, often in India, etc. If there's some other reason you think it should be removed feel free to argue for that – but your (or my) opinion on where you (or I) think they tend to be located is irrelevant, we just go off what sources say. ‑‑Volteer1 (talk) 18:59, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If we don't know where they're from, it shouldn't be included in the page. Again it's not relevant to the streamer nor what he does. Kman (talk) 17:06, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tbh I think you're right that it isn't that relevant here, it's not like the people Kitboga calls have all that different demographics than the average scammer. Material about where scammers come from is probably better suited for e.g. Technical support scam#Scams from India or something similar, so I've removed it. ‑‑Volteer1 (talk) 19:24, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
