Renomination for deletion[edit]

The case itself is notable, the lawyer behind it is not. There are tens of thousands of lawyers out there who have handled more important cases and don't merit a place in an encyclopedia. If Mr. Camara deserves an article then anyone who is even slightly successful in what he does deserves an article. I'm sure many people would like to know more on Thomas' lawyer when the case was still hot, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a weekly news journal. Besides there are so many background details which are not substantiated, that only Mr. Camara or someone very close to him may have known and written. It's crystal clear to me that this article is an autobio. I move for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.123.213.76 (talk) 19:45, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So what exactly has changed in this article in the last year? All I see are factual references, nothing that establishes importance to the subject of this article, which was why this article was deleted in the first place. This is just a bold violation of precedent set by a fair vote. Unless the primary editor of the article speaks as to how importance of Kiwi Camara was established with this edit, I will renominate this for deletion. -- ßίζ·קּ‼ (talk | contribs) 01:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK. So should this article be deleted? If it already was nominated for deletion, then lets delete it as per renomination consensus.--Jondel (talk) 01:35, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Am I the primary editor? I made major contributions to the article. I don't think it is notable, lets delete it. Besides I 'm sure Mr. Camara himself would enjoy the privacy.--Jondel (talk) 01:40, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He could still become notable depending on how big the RIAA vs. Jammie Thomas becomes. That's already notable in some circles, and I was glad to find this page here. 77.165.66.211 (talk) 13:27, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He might still become notable, but right now is not. He's a young law school graduate who was involved in a racial controversy and started his own firm. That isn't exactly encyclopedia-worthy. I would vote for deletion.

Self promotion?[edit]

The controversy at Harvard is possibly notable. Camara himself, not so much. The article needs to be reworked not only so it is less of an advertisement, but so it centers on what in notable about him specifically. If there is not sourced content attesting to his notability, the article should be deleted. Its relevance has been questionable since 2006, and has not materially increased since it was last raised in 2009. Acone (talk) 23:38, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Draft article for review[edit]

Hello! Sarah here to submit an improved article about Kiwi Camara on behalf of DISCO. I've disclosed my conflict of interest above and on my profile page, and I will avoid editing the article directly to comply with Wikipedia's conflict of interest rules. I've saved an improved article here for community review.

Following are some issues with the current article:

  • Currently the biography has a Background section with two Controversy sections (Harvard and Yale), which are actually related to the same incident.
  • There is also a Private practice section with one sentence using official company websites as citations.
  • The article uses a bad Northwestern University URL, three Harvard Record sources, and one Yale Daily News source to describe events at Harvard and Yale, relying heavily on student newspapers.
  • The article mostly focuses on Harvard and Yale without giving readers an overview of his career.

The proposed draft seeks to improve the current article in the following ways:

  • The draft organizes content using section headings more consistent with other biographies: Early life and education, Career, and Personal life and recognition.
  • I've folded the Harvard and Yale content into the section about his educational background, rather than having additional sections about his student life.
  • I've based the Harvard and Yale content on independent secondary coverage, instead of relying heavily on student publications from these universities.
  • I've written a Career section to mention his initial jobs, notable work at Camara & Sibley, and his founding of DISCO.
  • I've added mention of Mensa International and the New York Academy of Sciences.
  • I've also added an infobox and a Publications section with works he has authored or co-authored.

To summarize, I've reviewed the sources currently used in the article, as well as others not currently used, and worked to improve and update the existing text to reflect secondary coverage more accurately. I've restructured the article to be more consistent with other biographies, added a few details about his early life and educational background, expanded information about his career, and added an infobox and publications section.

Are there any editors watching this article who can review and update appropriately? I am hoping the proposed draft will be seen as a more well-rounded biography and address some of the concerns previously shared here on this Talk page. Thanks in advance for feedback and assistance!  Done Mostly done, also added a sentence about the racial controversy to the lead per WP:LEAD. 15 (talk) 16:39, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
