Improvements (sources)[edit]

I'm fairly newbish at editing, but I figure this is a pretty good source for some of his wrestling accomplishments. Hoping to see this article go far. Hezekiah957 (talk) 05:04, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blech. Noticed that it's already on there as an external link. Shows how good at this I am >.< Hezekiah957 (talk) 05:09, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is he?[edit]

Is this guy a heel or a face?209.209.140.21 (talk) 22:58, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We don't know yet. Anyone this is not a forum. Davnel03 19:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a fair question, Davnel. Hardly a possible WP:FORUM problem. His kayfabe ID would be important to the article as it is his first WWE run. Looking at the promo I think he'll be a face. Dealing with your run of the mill beach bully is a good guy act. GetDumb (talk) 08:33, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You see the way you are discussing this topic, you are asking people about the guy's personality in wrestling. This is not the place for that, THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION BOARD!TrUcO9311 (talk) 15:05, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So the kayfabe ID isn't important to the article? *confused* GetDumb (talk) 07:16, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say it's relevant question, if you're looking to include the answer in the article. If you're just asking because you don't know, then this would not be the place. And for the record, the promos suggest to me a babyface alignment, (coming to someone's aid and attacking the stereotypical beach bully.) -- RoninBK T C 09:39, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In WWE developmentals, he's a face and his finisher is an enziguri. There are matches on YouTube up to see his moves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.188.197.180 (talk) 22:27, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Finisher[edit]

As far as I know his finisher is the Steiner Screwdriver, under another name (I'm not sure what this name is). Could anyone confirm this before I add it? gravediggerfuneral —Preceding comment was added at 01:17, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try Out Match[edit]

This could possibly be his try out match with the WWE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by All about wrestling (talkcontribs) 03:04, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dark match[edit]

on march 26 he faced trevor murdoch if its not already noted i should know i was there —Preceding unsigned comment added by The real rj (talkcontribs) 01:49, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A dark match isn't notable to his overall career though. is it? In fairness it's not notable by any stretch of the imagination. No week-by-week events go in the article either. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 16:27, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't one of his signature moves the monkey flip?[edit]

He uses the monkey flip in almost all of his matches. Shouldnt that be listed in his signature moves? I'll edit it I just want to hear what everyone else thinks first.

It's a pretty generic move for the "middleweight" set. It's not really something someone sees and thinks "Kofi" or doesn't see in a Kofi match and consciously wonders why not.«»bd(talk stalk) 19:31, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
May I add that it's the same case for Jimmy Wang Yang yet it is still listed in his move set?Skilldog2 (talk) 00:00, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feud with Shelton[edit]

For the past few weeks Kofi and Shelton Benjamin have been in a feud. Kofi beat Shelton twice and it ignited a feud. Shouldn't that be listed in the article since that last new info was added after Wrestlemania 24?Skilldog2 (talk) 23:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, well it is his first major feud in WWE. But nothing has really escalated out of the feud, now if Shelton beats Kofi and ends his undefeated streak, then the feud could be added. Also if the feud escalates to a PPV, then it can also be added, but for now, not really a "big" feud to be added at the moment.--~SRX~ 00:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. Thanks.Skilldog2 (talk) 00:44, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, Sheamus once had a feud with Shelton too. Seems things have gone full circle. DB (talk) 06:55, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Raw? What the...[edit]

The article says he is wrestling on the Raw brand even though he's on ECW. Did someone vandalize it or did i miss something?Skilldog2 (talk) 00:45, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant Vandalism, restored to old revision. --SRX 00:56, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weight[edit]

Lillian Garcia announced Kofi Kingston at a weight of 218 lbs on last night's edition of Raw, while this article credits him to 225 lbs. What should be done about the matter? Feedback 00:22, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The source we have says 225, so that's where it has to stay. Similar to when Taker was first billed at 299 - people keep changing it from 305, but it had to reverted per policy. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 00:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ECW[edit]

Shouldn't his time in ECW be added. It seems like it goes from his dark matches straight to his drafting to Raw, not very encyclopedic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.6.87.149 (talk) 11:10, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a good lot on his time on ECW but alot of things that he did on ECW where not notable!Adster95 (talk) 09:58, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His 'trouble in paradise' is the best finishing since it paralyzes his opponent. Dam-parry Shaddai (talk) 23:28, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble In Paradise[edit]

In the article it says that its called Trouble in Paradise[33] (WWE) / Cool Runnings[1] (DSW) (Jumping corkscrew roundhouse kick)Should it be called a roundhouse or an Enziguiri ?? Dojojoe :)

  • It's not an enzuigiri simply due to the "enzui" part of the name relating to the back of one's head. Kofi's kick is usually to the front of the attacker (sometimes to the side), but rarely to the back of someone's head. HDC7777 (talk) 18:07, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

Seemingly in a effort to push Kofi into a new fued w/ Randy Orton, Kofi seems to have a rather normal accent compared to a heavy Jamaican accent he has sported in the part. Triple H made at least 2 call outs on air, so I added this as a signifigant change in the gimmick and considering Kofi is being aimed for Upper Card Status, more changes maybe forth coming. BlackScreaminMachine (talk) 18:54, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Billing[edit]

Lately WWE has been billing him from Ghana, West Africa. Just thought I would point out that the article doesn't mention that. Don't know how I would edit that. L2K (talk) 01:59, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kofi's birthday / age[edit]

His birthday in the infobox (August 14, 1978) conflicts with the birth date shown in the text of the article (born on August 14, 1981). This probably ought to be reconciled. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bghosted (talkcontribs) 17:37, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It requires a reliable source, and may need removal or special handling if sources do not agree. --Ronz (talk) 18:38, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to review potential references.
We could use primary sources for the day and month.
The year might be difficult to resolve, unless someone had a very clear resolution to the '78 vs '81 problem mentioned above, because the BBC ref says '82. --Ronz (talk) 20:55, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ronz: What if we put only the Month and Day ie. "August 14" for now. This source supports the Day/Month. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:52, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I found better sources to use here and here for the date. This reliable source from February 2014 lists his age at the time as 32, so that would make his birthyear 1981. StaticVapor message me! 11:08, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@STATicVapor: These links seem reliable. Kindly add them. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:48, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Good work. I think it's fine to include Aug 14 '81 with these sources. I'll try to find time to dig through the article history to see where '78 came from, and if there are are more verifying '82. --Ronz (talk) 16:24, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Appearance issues with the infobox[edit]

After going onto this article, it's apparent there's an issue in the infobox, the '6' of his billed height doesn't appear when reading the article. It doesn't seem to be on any others. - Sir Pawridge talk contribs 08:33, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No picture?[edit]

Could someone find a picture for Kofi? I'm neither good nor experienced with pictures. I see many WWE wrestlers have 2010 Tribute to the Troops pictures. Could someone help find one of Kofi's for that event? Thank you. Starship.paint (talk) 10:37, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

'Ghanaian-American' in the lead[edit]

@HHH Pedrigree: Regarding this edit. The WP:ETHNICITY MOS is not restricted to "Ethnicity" only, according to it, ...Similarly, previous nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability.... Point is whether Mr. Kingston's "Place of Birth" is notable enough. If not then "Ghanaian-American" in the lead needs to be replaced with "American" only unless he is a Ghanaian citizen as well. Pinging STATicVapor for suggestions. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:38, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think is important. He was billed from Jamaica, but since 2010, he is billed from Ghana. Also, he is the first African-born wrestler to hold the title. I think his birth place stills notable for the lead. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 19:37, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm this is a tough one. The first Africian-born WWE Champion lends notability to him being from Ghana. However, based on where he has lived and came of age, he is an American. StaticVapor message me! 00:17, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Kofi Kingston[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kofi Kingston's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "WM38N2":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 12:15, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
