Val Gardena 1981[edit]

Bartelksy started with number 29. In the meantime all racers, Team Officials and media representatives believed that Erwin Resch is the winner followed by Leonhard Stock (0.40 of a second behind) and Steve Podborski (0.50 of a second behind). Mr. Resch was invited by the Austrian TV in order to analyse his performance but Mr. Bartelski did burst in on the interview. Bartelski was faster than Resch, at first it were 0.15 of a second then 0.22 of a second! Unbelievalbe! Mr. Resch and the TV speaker were fluttering - they cried "Unmöglich, das gibt es nicht!" ("Impossible - just strike me pink!") - and feeled relieved when the English racer did miss with 0.11 of a second. - At least since that time Mr. Bartelski was well known by all Austrian "ski-fans" but insiders did know more about him because he was one of very many racers who did fall down on the same place like Mr. Bartelski in the downhill race of Megeve (1975); also Franz Klammer did it (but not on the same place) but his spill was conclusively the fact to loose the chance of winning the overall Alpine Skiing World Cup 1974/75. - Another conspicuous point in order to know Mr. Bartelski was that he lived in Austria during the winter (like other ski racers from Norway, or the U.S.A. and Canada did it and further do it). 213.225.36.215 (talk) 12:00, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
