It is pathetic to cite the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church on this issue. What do you expect, that the Church would proclaim that Leontyev wrote gay novels? I believe, to ascertain the truth, you should visit a local library. Here's what a casual google search found:

I have some of Leontiev's works. I have not read everything that he has written, but the "homosexual themes" I've seen are not prominant at all and involve some imagination by the reader (i.e., he might in his writings describe a man as being handsome or describe a male's physical features). I don't understand why his possible bisexuality is featured in brief article.Faustian 18:45, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read Egyptian Dove? It has a blatant homosexual subtext. This is pretty much the pattern of every Leontiev book (not just the one) - man has frigid wife, then pines after dashing young man from a foreign country. Insert lengthy passages of male physical description, too.

I don't like reading psychology into books, but apart from Robert E. Howard (who is another great author), this is just about the most homosexual text of any writer I've read. I'd say there are very good odds this author is gay or bisexual.

Slavophilia[edit]

Leontiev was not slavophile. Leontiev founded his own historiosophy and ideology called "byzantinism" (imperial-conservative ideology) http://knleontiev.narod.ru/texts/vizantizm.htm Slavophiles were egalitarian (they support monarchy but also slavic peoples democracy) and on the contrary Leontiev support radical elitism and hierarchy.
