Mark Hildreth

On July 12, 2005, the statement "As of 2004-2005, Kreuk isn't dating her Legend of Earthsea co-star, Canadian actor Mark Hildreth" was changed to "As of 2004, Kreuk is dating her Legend of Earthsea co-star, Canadian actor Mark Hildreth" by an anonymous editor. Some time later, this statement was removed.

Does anyone have evidence that Kristin Kreuk is dating or not dating Mark Hildreth?

(www.mark-hildreth.com is Mark's web site.) Myles22 22:56, 1 September 2005 (UTC)

I searched for a source but could not find one. If it is inserted into the article again without a reliable cited source then it should be removed. --PTSE 02:42, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

I have found a picture of Kristin Kreuk and Mark Hildreth in Corbis. They were at the premiere of Poseidon in Los Angeles. Check it out. Jenalexia 9 September 2006

[1]here is another proof that they are dating. Jenalexia 23 September 2006

External links to fan sites

I have removed fansites from the article as per WP:EL. More specifically:

"Fan sites: On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate, marking the link as such. In extreme cases, a link to a web directory of fansites can replace this link."

This does not exclude the use of one major fansite link but I don't know which one in the list qualify as a major fansite. Obviously referenced fansites can be linked to. --PTSE 02:32, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Sex symbol?

Kristin Kreuk is considered a sex symbol. Why can't I add to it? (Oh behaVa 14:15, 15 November 2005 (UTC))

Height

It says on this page, and here at her IMDb page, that she is 5'4". But at celbrity heights here, she is listed as 5'1" - but also as 5'3" here. I would bet on 5'1" (so we could list her on List of famous short women - Matthew238 01:05, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Agree. I don't think she's as tall as 5'4" though I think 5'1" would be too short. I'd say she's closest to 5'3"davidmj926 01:48, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

The Photo

Um, am I the only one who thinks that the photo currently accompanying the article is not a very flattering photo of Kristin? The bags under her eyes, her mouth, and way her eyes appear to be slightly crossed make it particularly odd-looking. Can we change it? Nightscream 03:51, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

No you're not the only one. The picture is terrible!
I agree, and as I have a lot of her pictures I tried to upload and replace, but found it difficult due to licensing.. x-bel

Okay, I replaced the pic with one that's a publicity shot from the show, use of which falls under Fair Use. Nightscream 12:45, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Savan Devani

Along the same lines as Mark Hildreth, there is a line in the "Facts and Stats" division of the article that says that Kristin has been linked to Savan Devani, an investment banker in New York. I tried to find substantiating evidence to this claim by Googling it, but the only page with relevant information was this Wikipedia article!

Does anyone have conclusive evidence of this relationship? -- Gujuguy, 18:31, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I've been bold and removed it because it is uncited, fails the Google test and had been removed in the past only to be added back by an IP user. --PTSE 02:09, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Lana is not Superman's girlfriend!

I changed it since it says on the WB that she is the star-crossed love of Clark Kent. I referenced it as well.(204.168.120.178)

Inuit?

I had read in interviews with Kreuk that she was Inuit and not Asian. Where did the ethnicity information come from? --Chris Griswold 16:04, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Kindly provide a link to the said interview where she clearly states that she's Inuit. With a Google search all information I get points to what's already stated here, that her mother's Indonesian Chinese (born in Indonesia) and named Deanna Che, and that her father's of Dutch ancestry and named Peter Kreuk. Edward Sandstig 00:34, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

My Space Page

There are at least two MySpace pages posing as KK. Are any of them legitimately her's?

Did u ever consider having a real realashniship with Tom Welling because if u don't u r crazy because he is sexy.

Star-crossed love?

I don't watch this series, and I don't know much about Superman, but this phrase... she stars as Clark Kent's star-crossed love in the intro... does this character really justify the Shakespeare quotation? Is she doomed by fate to love Clark Kent despite great tragedy to both parties? I'm not saying whether she is or isn't, just wonder if the phrase is applicable. - dharmabum 09:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Syed Hassan

Somebody has placed an uncited line in the article saying that Kristin is currently single, but has been linked to "Syed Hassan, an emerging British motor racing star." I have done a Google search and found nothing to back up this statement, hence I have been bold and deleted it. Gujuguy 23:20, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Her sister: Privacy issues

Does anyone have an interview where she actually says/the article states (not that it makes it true-one article claimed she was part Jamaican) that her sister's name is Justine? It is personal information that I dont think she actually discussed, so I think it should be deleted. She does in fact have a sister but she has never explicitly mentioned her name.

Pronunciation

Would someone who knows the correct pronunciation of her last name be willing to include that info in the article? I'd love to know. :) --Jay (Histrion) (talkcontribs) 17:52, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

According to a dutch friend of mine it would be IPA: [k[r]øːk]. I have no idea though if that is the way she actually pronounces it or if she has adopted the 'americanized' pronounciation. :) -- TexMurphy 08:34, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Which would be... what? "Crook," rhymes with "book?" "Crook," rhymes with "spook?" "Crike?" "Croik?" or "Cree-uck?" --Jay (Histrion) (talkcontribs) 19:01, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
According to http://www.loc.gov/nls/other/sayhow.html it would be KROOK. I have updated the article with both variants.

I believe it's Kreuk as in Crook (Smallville DVD commentary)

Pregnant? Doesn't appear so.

I removed the following comment because it appears unsubstantiated. If it was announced Nov. 13 by now (Nov. 22) I should've been able to find at least one independent reference. It can always be put back if there is supporting material for it. Rob Banzai 00:47, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Has now revealed that she is pregnant with her first child. November 13 2006

I thought she was partly Japanese

When I first watched one of the movies that she was in, I thought she was partly Japanese - she has that look. --Fantastic4boy 09:13, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

She's half Chinese, half Dutch. ― Sturr ★彡 Refill/lol 02:46, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Maternal grandmother's sister's nephew's uncle's ancestry

Can we end the revert war about ancestry? Those involved should reach consensus here on the discussion page instead of fighting it out with endless reverts. Let's settle it here once and for all. Rob Banzai 19:47, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

chinese jamaican grandmother

There's no need to list where her grandmother was born. Chinese-jamaican sounds misleading her grandmother is chinese BORN in jamaica but not chinese jamaican (blasian

I think we should add it in...It's an interesting fact about her family. They never said she was blasian. It clearly says her grandmother is a Jamaica citizen or resident of Chinese descent.

(209.177.21.6 - Talk)

Half Chinese and half Dutch....Indonesian is not part of her ethnicity.

Kristin Kreuk is half Chinese and half Dutch. Her mother is Chinese-Indonesian. Let me define it. Her mother is a citizen or resident of Indonesia of Chinese descent. Chinese-Indonesian is the same meaning as Asian-American. (209.177.21.6 - talk)

Thanks for that clarification. RahadyanS 22:08, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Chinese Jamaican.

And to the person who started the chinese jamaican thread obviously dosnt know what they are talking about cause there is such a thing as a chinese jamaican or jamaican born chinese people there are thousands within the country and living out side of the country. look it up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Jamaican . hopefully nobody else will say something without thinking...

Personal Life Section?

Is there some reason why there's no Personal Life section? Just curious because most celebrity/famous people articles seem to contain at least a snippet of some kind of general info (ie. marriage, dating, etc.) in that regard. Or is it simply that there's just not that much to tell? 99.243.197.87 (talk) 04:40, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

haha that's funny...I guess she's kept to her "clean Canadian" image! LOLz. Personal life stuff is usually negative...good for her! Maybe info on who she's dating and stuff tho...that ought to be available. --Madison (talk) 09:58, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I've been seeing less and less of that. Personally I never really cared for "Personal Life" sections as I don't find them to be worthy of an encyclopedia. If you read old Encyclopdias, you won't find who some famous person dated, etc. You instead find that in tabloids. The only thing I'd expect to see is if they're somehow related to another famous person. The ShadowSkull 19:44, 14 September 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kageskull (talkcontribs)

Lana Lang, not Lane

There have been a few revisions lately that have mistakenly changed Kristin Kreuk's character name on "Smallville" from "Lana Lang" to "Lana Lane." Perhaps you're confusing her character with "Lois Lane"? (In the middle of trying to correct these mistaken edits I accidentally reverted to one of the "Lane" versions... sorry about that.) [[Image:]] someone should just use that..

That image is probably not in the public domain, and as a fair use image it is not allowed in articles on living people. It would most likely get deleted. - TexMurphy (talk) 11:32, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
What about http://www.flickr.com/photos/labyrinthx/2908632503/ It's in CC
That image is from one of Kreuk's Neutrogena ads. The person who uploaded it to Flickr almost certainly does not own it. faithless (speak) 08:46, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
That's odd. I did an advanced search and specified that I only wanted images licensed under creative commons. I've seen numerous other pictures from flickr used as images, given that they are specified as licensed. So why did the image come up if it is not actually licensed under creative commons?
Don't worry, the problem isn't on your end. Unfortunately, people on Flickr sometimes upload pictures and claim that they own them, when they do not. In this instance, the person took a picture from one of Kreuk's Neutrogena ads that can easily be found on Google; in fact, the image is the fourth return on a Google Images search. Now, theoretically I suppose the uploader could have been the one to originally take the picture, but it's quite unlikely. faithless (speak) 23:46, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Can someone please put up a picture? It's a shame not to have one, she's so cute. So many articles on wikipedia don't have pics because of worries about copyright. Shame really.

Pronunciation of name

The surname Kreuk is of Dutch origin. In Dutch it isn't pronounced as KROOK as the source says (http://www.loc.gov/nls/other/sayhow.html#k), actually it is not even close to that. While I can assume that in English people will use /ˈkruːk/, because they don't have an ø (like an e with your lips rounded) in their language. Still, I believe perhaps it should be denoted that such a pronunciation differs a lot from the actual pronunciation (which would be /'krøːk/).

Article deletion

The article was tagged as additional citations for verification for the last 8 months. I have tried looking for information and none exist. It's time to delete this article altogether. If it takes this long to find references, clearly editors have given up altogether. 198.38.10.1 (talk) 21:43, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Stop talking such utter rubbish! Yes, a few things need citing, but the page will not be deleted. magnius (talk) 21:45, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Why don't you find sources instead of telling me this page will not be deleted? 198.38.10.1 (talk) 21:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
You honestly think a page about a famous actress will be deleted? Move along.... magnius (talk) 22:07, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
We won't delete a page on those terms. She has enough notability. If anything, the content that is not backed up with references would be removed, not the entire article. Also, you giving up on the article doesn't mean every single other active editor on Wikipedia (119,604) has. ς ح д r خ є 22:09, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Why don't any of you delete the ones not backed up with references? There are plenty in the article. 198.38.10.1 (talk) 22:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I believe the Wiki policy is that unsourced contentious or libelous material be removed, not an entire article. In the current article, I counted 5 "citations needed" with 3 of them attached to an air/release dates for some film she appeared in (not libelous in any way I can see, and contentious? maybe under certain circumstances). You said you looked for references and found none, yet I found this information shortly after a quick visit to IMDB. Is not IMDB a reliable source for this type of information since IMDB confirms all entries that have to do with the movies themselves (air/release dates, cast, crew, etc) with the studios/companies before the edits "go live"? (First hand experience on this one — former actor). Rather than crying out to have the entire article deleted, would it not be better to spend that energy adding citations? And no, editors haven't given up as it is more likely that the editors just haven't bothered to look for citations — one of those "oh, the next guy will do it" things. — al-Shimoni (talk) 09:18, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
You're joking. IMDb is trashier than Wiki. IMDb is not a source.11:21, 23 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.136.63.223 (talk)

This article needs a photo of her.

Is anyone a close friend to the actress? Perhaps one can take a picture of her and upload it to Wikipedia. 198.38.10.1 (talk) 22:16, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes... we know. Hence the photo request template above ς ح д r خ є 22:20, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
So what is taking so long? I'm sure she has plenty of friends who are willing to take a picture of her. 198.38.10.1 (talk) 22:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Canadian Karateka

It's clear from DwanyeWest's own citation that Kreuk gave up Karate when she was a teenager. "So, it's well known that you're into martial arts (purple belt!), though you gave it up at a young age." "I quit karate originally because it wasn't something that I was initially passionate about ... So, I had the opportunity in school to do a social studies class that was advanced, and I knew my mom would like that, so I bartered to take the advanced socials class and drop karate!" It makes the "Canadian Karateka" category unnecessary. I'd remove it (again) but he'd just put it back up (again) even though his own citation does not support the category. You win. ;) Rob Banzai (talk) 20:51, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

See "Celebrities and the martial arts" to dicuss this further if you so strongly object. Dwanyewest (talk) 14:19, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Early life

This currently reads she was born in both Vancouver, British Columbiaand born in Indonesia. "Kreuk was born in Vancouver, British Columbia.[2] and is of Chinese descent, but was born in Indonesia" I'm pretty sure she was born in Vancouver, but I don't have a source to confirm. Either way, she couldn't have been born in both locations. 50.80.228.18 (talk) 08:09, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

re: her pay for Smallville

"She returned as a guest star in the show's season eight for five episodes to conclude her storyline. In the first three seasons of the show she was paid $40.000 per episode, while from season four she earned $270.000 per episode."

Shouldn't that say $40,000 and $270,000 (respectively)? Where I'm from, $40.000 would mean 40 US Dollars. (Redacted)--Iamafanofpizza (talk) 10:37, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Karate - purple belt

As far as I have been able to determine, there is no standard belt system in Canada. That means that having a "purple belt" is not informative. (Actually, purple can be anywhere from next after yellow to right below brown. Its a pretty safe bet that at 13 or 14 years old, she wasn't working on her brown belt.) Since the mention of what color belt she earned at what ever studio she attended is virtually meaningless I am removing it.71.28.50.215 (talk) 20:44, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

NXIVM

Should be returned. She now admits to being in the cult from 2005 - 2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A601:468:CD01:AC3D:F2:B43D:BA30 (talk) 16:46, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

I've removed text about NXIVM from the Personal life section as it seems against WP:NPOV.

Kreuk was "reported" to have been recruited, "detractors" accused the founder of running a cult. There is no proven involvement by Kruek into the "alleged sex trafficking cult". She has publicly denied it. I don't think NXIVM should be added to the Personal life section.

From WP:UNDUE, "the article on the Earth does not directly mention modern support for the flat Earth concept, the view of a distinct minority; to do so would give undue weight to it." // sikander { talk } 19:28, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

I re-added it, slightly edited. The section only contains relevant and factual information with references. It has been widely reported and she wasn't being accused of those things in the wiki article. Would to me at least seem easily relevant enough to warrant a place on her wiki page.
"As a general rule, do not remove sourced information from the encyclopedia solely on the grounds that it seems biased. Instead, try to rewrite the passage or section to achieve a more neutral tone." ShadessKB (talk) 14:24, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

"Multi level marketing". Is that what it's called now? it was a blackmailing sex slavery/abuse/grooming cult. Whatever its cover msy have been, other than for sake of exhaustiveness, is irrelevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.94.48.142 (talk) 01:32, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Boyfriend

I don't think her current boyfriend should be mentioned. The source being used (http://brieftake.com/interview-burden-truths-kristin-kreuk-peter-mooney-star-slade/) does not even name him, so I have continuously been removing edits that do because it is unsourced and due to the WP:BLPNAME policy. I believe he shouldn't be mentioned at all because there is no source for it being a significant relationship (claiming they are long-term in your edit summary is not enough, you need a source). —–Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 11:09, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

@108.56.255.219: These sources aren't enough. The 'Inside of You' source just has her confirming Rosenbaum's statements that she's dating someone/has a boyfriend (at 10:38, 45:15) and Kreuk/Rosenbaum mentioning his forename (at 31:48, 45:15, 59:35), the 'Brief Take' source just has her saying that her boyfriend's a writer on her show, and the 'Beyond Fashion' source just says she revealed that she's in a relationship. See WP:V, WP:OR, WP:BLP (and specifically WP:BLPNAME), and WP:RS. Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 04:53, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

@108.56.255.219: Adding a fourth source doesn't suddenly make the previous three okay. The new 'Anchor.fm' source you've added (thanks for giving the time as 42:24) just has Kreuk mentioning that she has a boyfriend and she says his forename. So you're still violating the same policies that I listed above. Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 00:16, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

@Abbyjjjj96: Please state and show the exact verbiage of where said policies are 'violated'. It's not a matter of whether previously referenced articles are made "OK" by later ones, whatever that even means. It's a matter of whether adding more sources increases the legitimacy of the claim. She's a public figure who has either explicitly mentioned the said name, has not denied the naming of him by others in the referenced sources, or the sources themselves provide information that can be inferred that further solidifies said claim, e.g., "my boyfriend is a writer on the show" with the name Erik (and only one exists). Whether you subjectively consider it "significant" is irrelevant since no explicit definition for the term has been given. Therefore, a person who commits to infrequent long-term relationships over a period of many years can have any one of them be validly deemed as "significant", especially if the significant other is explicitly named and referred to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.56.255.219 (talkcontribs) 16:03, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

@108.56.255.219: I linked numerous policies above which you obviously haven't bothered to read. You're combining multiple sources together to reach a conclusion. None of the sources even give the surname of her supposed boyfriend; you've determined who he is by looking up the writers on her show and discovering only one has the forename that she stated. This is original research and Wikipedia articles must not contain original research. Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 09:35, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
@Abbyjjjj96: I'm not going to sift through hundreds of words of mentioned references to attempt to find the ones you supposedly used to support your claim that I violated certain rules. That is not my job. So what if a combination of sources were used to verify such information? Are you really complaining about using legitimate sources to come to a conclusive truth? Where is that against the rules? The NOR says this explicitly: "...serves to reach or imply a conclusion NOT STATED BY THE SOURCES", meaning that such sources are used to reach or imply a conclusion that is in CONTRADICTION to them, not in actual concordance with them. If the sources actually EXPLICITLY STATED the full name then there would be no need for "reaching" or "implying" a conclusion in the first place.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.56.255.219 (talkcontribs) 15:56, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
You cannot combine the sources to reach a conclusion that is not stated in any one of them. Morbidthoughts (talk) 01:43, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
@Morbidthoughts: Then take out the surname instead of the entirety of it and blocking the IP address of a user just because all of you apparently can't handle TRUTHFUL information related in a Wiki. As far as all of the sources are concerned all of the rest of the data besides the surname IS EXPLICITLY stated.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.56.255.219 (talkcontribs) 01:21, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
