According to WP:ENGVAR, "With few exceptions (e.g., when a topic has strong national ties or the change reduces ambiguity), there is no valid reason for changing from one acceptable option to another." Lund's ties to the United States are no stronger than his ties to Denmark, where the variety of English they use most closely resembles British English, so there is no reason to make a wholesale change to this article. There is already a very clear consensus on WP:FOOTY about this. Especially now that Lund has made his debut for the United States, it's beyond doubt. That, and there is no "Danish English" variety, as Denmark is not an anglophone country. So, given his clear and undisputed connection to the United States, there is no reason for his article to be written in a default English variety when a specific variety is an option—not to mention the important fact that that English variety uses distinctly different words than the default to describe the very sport Lund plays. If he had been born in England or Ireland or some other obviously anglophone place, you'd have a point—albeit a very weak one, given that it would still go against clear, long-established consensus. But he wasn't. Please don't revert edits that follow a long-established consensus. Anwegmann (talk) 15:35, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
