Odd that it has an apostrophe in the official name, close to the ʻokina of Hawaiian. W Nowicki (talk) 19:42, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Many historical errors noted, the most significant being the fact that the French frigate man-of-war with 16-cannon commanded by French Captain Freycinet was anchored just offshore to support Prince Liholiho Iolani's Royalist Troops massing at Keauhou, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Captain Freycinet had been requested by the Governor of Hawaii & Secretary of State of the Hawaiian Kingdom under the late King Kamehameha Paiea I, the Conqueror, John "Olohana" Young, to support the new King Kamehameha II Liholiho Iolani in the impending great Hawaiian Civil War for the Hawaiian throne. Freycinet volunteered to support the Royalists during the Battle_of_Kuamo'o on December 19, 1819, which was the difference in victory or defeat of the Hawaiian Traditionalist Forces led by my paternal great-great-grandfather, the Kahuna Prince Kaiwi-kuamo'o-kekuaokalani(k) & his warrior wife, High Chiefess Manono(w). Appropriate bibliographic references are found in Chapter 39 and other chapters in William Afong Kaipo Kuamo'o's book entitled, "The History of my Kuamo'o-Sun Family of Hilo & Honolulu, Hawaii," Oroviejo Publishers; Scottsdale, AZ: 2000-2009 editions. By the way, John "Olohana" Young's life was spared by King Kamehameha Paiea I, the Conqueror, earlier because of the pleading of the King's daughter, Ka'-oana'eha Kuamo'o (daughter of Kahuna-nui High Priestess Maunakalika Waha'ula Kuamo'o of the Waha'ula Luakini Heiau Temple in Puna, HI). The English Boatswain's Mate on a rogue American ship was captured ashore loading supplies, when his ship's captain fired grapeshot at visiting Hawaiians near his ship & killed 100+ natives. King Kamehameha I acceded to his daughter's pleading for mercy for John Young because she loved him...and later they were married. The wily King Kamehameha I immediately recognized the value of Young's cannoneering skills in his plans for total Conquest of Hawaii & promoted him to his Chief Cannoneer.32.176.202.214 (talk) 23:45, 3 March 2010 (UTC)William Afong Kaipo Kuamo'o[reply]

Beter sources[edit]

Do not totally follow the above. My sources say L'uranie visit was in August, and then they sailed to Maui and Oahu then Tahiti. So unless we have verification that it was around in December, or the battle took place in August, I will remove that part. There was some discussion through Jean Baptiste Rives I found about a rebllion being started back in August, and Louis de Freycinet saying he would help but that is the only connection. Alas Freycinet journals are in French and mine is a bit rusty. W Nowicki (talk) 02:22, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Try reading Emmett Cahill's insightful book "The Life & Times of John Young, Confidant & Advisor to Kamehameha the Great I've attached as "Related Readings." Attention to details after my ancestor King Kamehameha Paiea I, the Conqueror's, death in May of 1819, of King Kamehameha II Liholiho & his Prime Minister Kalanimoku pleading with the late Ke Alii Paiea's Secretary of State & Governor of the Big Island of Hawaii...to negotiate with French Captain Freycinet of the French Frigate L'Uranie for support of the new King in the event of Civil War. John Young's wife Mary Ka'oana'-eha Kuamoo-Young, was a Priestess (aka Kahuna-nui) of the late King's last great temple, Pu'ukohola Luakini Heiau, near Kawaihae where the Young homestead was located, while Young was an Anglican Christian...a strange meeting site & cast-of-characters for Young to meet Freycinet. The French agreed to support Liholiho if any hostilities occurred as evidenced by Archival Sketches by Arago found in the Hawaii State Archives of a shipboard meeting of dignitaries prior to Dec 1819 Battle of Kuamoo. Freycinet was a French Catholic & "ordained" the Kahuna High Priest Hewahewa "Pope of the Hawaiian Islands" in the heathen's conversion to Catholicism. I would strongly suggest you do more research on this subject which apparently are totally foreign to you before discussing levels of expertise, authoritative "verification" or "removal" of narrative matters. After all, both Kekuaokalani & John Young's 2nd wife, Ka'oana'-eha Mary Kuamo'o were my paternal great-great-grandfather & great-great-grandaunt, respectively, & my Kuamo'o Ohana's Mo'olelo (family oral history) should be an "authorative verifiable source" in my listed Related Readings. My own book of my Kuamo'o-Sun Family History has over 900 pages with 134 bibliographic references to validate the authenticity and scholarly validity of ALL OF MY FOREGOING ASSERTIONS IN WIKIPEDIA PROJECTS I'VE COMMENTED ON. Suggest U READ THE BOOKS B4 BEING JUDGMENTAL ABOUT SOMETHING MY ANCESTORS DIED FOR & U KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!166.128.75.84 (talk) 05:37, 6 March 2010 (UTC)William Afong Kaipo Kuamo'o[reply]

Added my VANDALIZED narrative on the Lekeleke Battle of Kuamoo Burial Grounds of my Kuamo'o-Kekuaokalani ancestors which were removed by W.Nowicki who claims to be an "expert" on the topic. My "references" are more verifiable than his and will continue to be propagated in the spirit of WIKIPEDIA Shareware terms & conditions.166.128.75.84 (talk) 06:41, 6 March 2010 (UTC)William Afong Kaipo Kuamo'o[reply]
