Layout[edit]

I feel this article should not be laid out this way. Three subsections are not needed for what is written in "Background, education, and career". "Background" could probably be changed to "Early life" and expanded if possible. "Education" could be added to "Early life" and "Career" left as its own section combined with "Publications".

The family information should all be combined together eliminating any unnecessary repetition, perhaps under the heading "Personal life". Moreover, I am not sure how necessary it is to mention the names of the kids and grandkids. This part sort of reads more like a personal webpage than an encyclopedia article. In my opinion, mentioning Isselbacher's wife's name is fine, but just mentioning the number of children and grandchildren is more than sufficient.

It looks like many of the external links are works by Isselbacher. These probably should be listed under a "bibliography" section than as external links.

Anyway, these are just some things that popped into my head after reading the article for the first time. - Marchjuly (talk) 03:05, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: You know, I always write articles on academics the way you suggest it here, so I made a few changes to it. Hope you will like it. As far kinds and grandkids go, its part of the subject's personal life, so yes, it can be mentioned.
