Morris Island[edit]

What about Morris Island, Ontario?? A clarification is called for. Peter Horn 15:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is about the municipality of L'Isle-aux-Allumettes, not the island itself. Morrison Island, which I think you are referring to, is mentioned in the opening paragraph. --Padraic 23:55, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error[edit]

The following coordinate fixes are needed for

Incorrect map location. Latitude and longitude should also be verified.

  • Coordinates were taken from Commission de toponymie du Québec, which appear to be just north off the island. It is now adjusted to the centre of the island. -- P 1 9 9   21:05, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Allumettes" name - why?[edit]

"Allumettes" means "matches" (the kind for lighting fires with). Why do the rapids (and the island and municipality) have this name? Rocks in the rapids could (figuratively) smash a wooden boat into matchsticks? Matches were made or stored in this area? Or what? TooManyFingers (talk) 17:56, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
