Please don't delete[edit]

The LUS FTTH the home project is a milestone in fiber optic technology. The city-parish president had to testify before Congress to get this project approved, and it paved the way for other municipality owned FTTH projects. LUSFiber is setting an example for the rest of the country. I feel that it's a vital article in chronicling the history of fiber optic technology. I'll get more information added as soon as I can. I hadn't realized how late it is, I need some sleep!

I wish I could help you out, but the issue is to explain how this company could pass the relevant notability guideline for inclusion, WP:CORP. Generally that requires being "the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources" (obviously the guideline goes into greater depth). I don't really see that being true of LUSFiber, but if you can point to any such significant independent coverage I'll be glad to hear it. Generally what we say about claims that a company offers "the only product X in the world," or completed "vital project Y," is that if it's really so important someone will notice and cover it, and then it will be shown to be notable. I added much more information, including the battles the city had to fight before it could go ahead with its project. I referenced a independent website article, and know of other secondary places I can get info to add to it, I just don't have the time to do it yet.I also plan on adding a section about the local reaction to the project, both good and bad as soon as I can find the references. I know it might some biased, but I've seen cable company articles on here that don't say much more than that they provide x services for y community. LUSFiber set a precedent for other muni fiber networks, showing that despite how the big telecomms try and stop them, they can fight them and win. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcarriere (talk • contribs) 23:21, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

one of my personal favorite pages[edit]

I'm gonna keep fixing this page up. I do think LUS Fiber is notable, its cited and referenced a bunch of times in the debate over municipal broadband. I'd say it's almost if not as famous as the Chattanooga broadband. But the history section is way too long, and most of it is legal battle, so I will probably try to separate those sections out soon.
