The name of the group does not come from an aaprtment the group lived in. According to the long book of interviews with founder and first violinist Walter Levin it was picked spontaneously by violinist Robert Mann (of the Juilliard quartet) who was reccomending the group for an engagement, and needed a name for the yet un-named group. he was on the corner of LaSalla and Broadway, saw the street sign out of a window and gave the name, which stuck. Story is on pages 97 & 98 of "the LaSalle Quartet - conversations with Walter Levin" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.18.31 (talk) 12:17, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New additions[edit]

I just briefly retooled a few things in the article, additions of Wikipedia links and some simple facts. But more to come. They did Schönberg and Zemlinsky like no other. I agree that notability isn't just the publication of an album, though they did do a bunch. Many of their recordings are out of print, but all are Deutsche Grammophon.

Notability[edit]

In my opinion notability is not signified by the publication of a CD for a string quartet founded in 1946. On the other hand a nod by a composer (György Ligeti) might be enough in itself.--Atavi 12:59, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recording[edit]

I have actually just spotted a recording by the quartet. Arnold Schoenberg, Verklärte Nacht / String Trio, Deutsche Grammophon, 1984.--Atavi 10:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

...and web searching, String Quartets by the second viennese school (schoenberg, berg, webern)--Atavi 11:01, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now unsourced![edit]

To my absolute amazement, every single reference or external link which populated this article led to a "404" page - so were all dead links. And this was further compounded by the fact that editors have been blissfully adding to and amending the info supplied, while it all effectively stands unsourced. I have removed the deadlinks as per routine function, and have therefore marked the article "unsourced", for work to be carried out in renewing the references used. Please do not merely revert, as that will only restore the useless deadlinks. Thanks. 86.113.24.86 (talk) 20:37, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
