This page is in desperate need of improvements...[edit]

We need some better pictures -- an aerial view of "the Lake" on a sunny day, with some hillside homes/condos/resorts/dockside establishments in view would be a perfect place to start. This article gives a reader/researcher absolutely no inkling of the general feel of the the LotO as a resort area -- especially considering that there is now an extremely popular television show highlighting its LotO "seting," but which is filmed at a smaller, comparatively undeveloped lake in a very different part of the country (northern Georgia), with very different topography (and very, very little in the way of the types of residential properties [the quintessential SFH example is on a hillside overlooking the lake, with balconies on at least two or three floors -- not to mention the even more prevalent condo buildings of various types] and commercial establishments dotting the shores of LotO).

fish?[edit]

I imagine there is a big recreational fishing industry, can anyone add it?

More than fishing[edit]

The industry is much, much more than fishing. While there are tons of people who come to fish the innumerable coves and other hidden spots, most people come for recreational boating, skiing, personal watercraft, the numerous bars, resorts, and entertainment destinations around the lake.

So-called "Midwest Coast"[edit]

Google currently has 599,000 hits for "Lake of the Ozarks", and as of this writing exactly 157 of them also match "Midwest Coast" – less than 0.03%. Practically every one of those (excepting the Wikipedia mirrors) are realtors, rental agencies, travel agents, etc. It smells of an advertising slogan. I've changed the text from "is also called the Midwest Coast" to "is promoted as the Midwest Coast". At the risk of introducing some original research, I'll say that I've lived in Missouri my whole life and have been to the lake many times since I was five years old, and I have never heard any person refer to it in that way. --Kbh3rdtalk 05:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Party Cove[edit]

I'm from Missouri, and I searched Wikipedia for an article on Party Cove because I wanted to know it's history and formation - who started the party, when, etc. Imagine my surprise that there isn't a wikipedia entry on Party Cove, nor even a mention of it on the page for the Lake of the Ozarks! Party Cove is internationally famous as a party destination on the water. People travel from the world over to party it up at Party Cove. What gives? I will try to post something today. There's a treasure trove of Google links including a New York Times article and a big Kansas City Star July article. As is my curse in drilling down, I will probably also post articles on Grandglaize Creek (the official one-word name for the tributary) and Grand Glaize Bridge. I haven't been there for a long time. Is the sign on the bridge one word "Grandglaize" or two words? (if memory serves it's complicated because it's in caps). On the USGS maps the Grandglaize is one word. Thanks guys! I noticed today there's a Party Cove entry now. I would love to add something, but I don't have any source other than experience. What most interests me is it's history. alleged alien sightings[edit]

are you sure it was a book? anywho, i was on vacation their this summer, and i remeber reading in a article in the news, there was a guy over near camdenton, was riding his motorcycle real lat at night, around 12 a.m., and saw a ufo over the highway. in the previous months before that there had been several other ufo sightings.
