Opening

Changed "Lakehead University is situated at the head of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is amongst the largest university in Northwestern Ontario." to "Lakehead University is situated at the head of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It is the largest university in Northwestern Ontario." This will also have to be worked on as Lakehead and Algoma are the only schools in the area. -SeanL.

Campus Building List?

It sounds like university propaganda, not for an encyclopedia. When I have time, I most likely get rid of all that bloat and just make it a simple list of campus buildings. I doubt that most readers care when the men's residence hall was built. Gohiking 20:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

It is more than just the On Campus section, the Facts and Figures section is also bloted and unencyclopedic. I agree, it sounds like a lot of propaganda. The article isn't meant to be an advertisement.Kratoz 21:38, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Campus building list info: "the hangar" was paid for by student union funds and, in a poll on their website, the name with the highest number of votes was "optimus prime". The student union board of directors, under pressure from the administration no doubt, decided that they would ignore the wishes of the owners of the building and name it "the Hangar"

Lakehead Lands

References to the Biloski land donation have been deleted. The Port Arthur leased land records show 18 acres of land was leased from Mike Biloski in 1930. The current university site occupies over 119 hectares (297 acres). The Biloski family and other local residents may have contributed significant lands to the Lakehead campus The question is how much of this land was related to the overall campus lands at the time. I believe land donations of historical significance to the development of the Lakehead campus should be credited and more accurately described in the Article. The statements suggesting the Lakehead campus was entirely built on lands donated by Biloski may not be accurate. Nganga2 (talk) 18:53, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Lakehead Univeristy as "LU"

Lakehead University cannot use the abbreviation "LU" because Laurentian University owns the trade-mark to the abbreviation. See http://www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/ for more info. 65.39.13.31 (talk) 18:26, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

LU itself might not be able to legally use it, but everyone calls it that anyway. Unless the nickname field is limited to nicknames used by the organization itself, it should stay. Also, I can't think of many instances where someone has called it "Lakehead U". It's either "Lakehead University" in full or "LU". vıdıoman 05:04, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah the fact Laurentian owns a trademark doesn't mean people can't still use the term unofficially for something else, technically since it has been a common nickname for the university since it was created, it has probably already caused Laurentians trademark to be invalidated if they were to ever try to uphold their trademark in court. -DJSasso (talk) 11:57, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Winter Pictures

It would be nice to have some pictures of this place taken in the winter, since it takes up about 3/4 of the academic year.
