Hello, Pi! I'd be glad to review this article. I will have my initial checks up soon, but on a first glance, I like what I'm seeing. Sportsguy17 (TC) 18:15, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Initial Checks[edit]

  • In the GA toolbox, Dablinks shows no problems, but Checklinks came up with several dead links.
  • There are lots of images, but no copyright or caption problems that I can detect.
  • For the infobox where the weekday ridership is, is there perhaps newer data than 8 years ago? Perhaps this can show the progression from the 585 passengers in 2007 getting closer to the goal of 937.

Let's start here, Pi.1415926535. As I said, the article looks pretty good and my feedback shouldn't take too long, as most of my suggestions are relatively minor ones. Sportsguy17 (TC) 12:25, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done. All citations and external links are either live or viably archived, and I checked that all live links have a viable archive version available if needed. All images, incidentally, are my own work. I found a reliable source of 2012 ridership data and clarified boardings vs alightings vs totals. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 18:19, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • In the first sentence, replace "section" with neighborhood, it is more precise and less confusing.
  • The last sentence of the first paragraph just doesn't fit with where it currently is. If anything, it probably belongs as the last sentence in the second paragraph.
  • My biggest concern is that the information regarding the future Fenway Center development and the overpasses is actually new information that belongs under the Future Plans section. The lead should only summarize what's in the body of the article and should not introduce information not otherwise in the article.

Let me leave it at that for tonight because it's late, so I will stop here for now. I'll leave more feedback tomorrow. Sportsguy17 (TC) 03:01, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

First two are done. The Fenway Center information belongs more with the new station than it does with the cancelled DMU and BRT plans, so I've changed the section title accordingly. I believe all information in the lede is cited in the main body text (save for a small amount that belongs only in the infobox). Pi.1415926535 (talk) 15:32, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Pi.1415926535:

History[edit]

  • I need more time to look over this section. The latter half of this section appears to be fine. My concerns will primarily focus around the first two sections, but I need another read-through and it certainly won't happen at 11:20 at night, so I'll leave feedback for this section tomorrow.
  • As far as content goes, this section is fine. I will touch up on some of the mechanics, but otherwise, this is a pass. Congrats! Sportsguy17 (TC) 01:39, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Station design[edit]

  • This section is unsourced. Unless there's some trick to this section, I'm sure the MBTA website or some other source of that sort will suffice for this section. Correct me if I'm wrong though (or of course, if it isn't supposed to be sourced).
Done. It was a bit trickier to prove exactly *why* the platforms are arranged as such (given that there are no known publicly accessible copies of the 2007 study remaining) but the presence of problematic gaps on convex curves is quite provable. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:25, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Connections[edit]

  • This section is all good.

Once I leave the history feedback, all you have to do is make the appropriate changes and then I think it'll be a pass. Sportsguy17 (TC) 03:20, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Station Renaming Team squad[edit]

I am forming a "Station Renaming Team squad" to go through the other articles on Monday afternoon and rename the station to its new name Lansdowne. Anyone else with me who wants to participate? World Metro (talk) 21:02, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it! Retain a mention of the old name where it is appropriate, until people get fully used to the new name. I commend your effort, but probably will be busy elsewhere. Reify-tech (talk) 21:24, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do the actual page move and associated technical cleanup. There's a lot of backend stuff that you're probably not yet familiar with. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:26, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad that Pi.1415926535 is still watching over this article. Could you clue us in on what kinds of non-obvious issues arise, so we can watch out for them in other contexts? Reify-tech (talk) 21:37, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Off the top of my head:
  • Moving the station to the correct name (a disambiguation will be needed as there are other Lansdowne stations)
  • Changing the link in both old (s-rail) and new (adjacent stations) backend templates
  • Checking that uses of those templates work correctly, and checking RDTs and other templates for hard-coded links that needed fixing
  • Checking for any cases where the old name is needed (like templates of how a line existed at a certain time), adding those into the backend templates if necessary, and so on
  • Fixing links from articles - including judgement on cases where the old name should be mentioned - and copyediting as needed. This includes mentions of the stations without links, including images.
  • Updating Wikidata and Commons as necessary
  • Updating the dab page
Yawkey/Lansdowne is a particularly tricky case for several reasons. It's been moved before so there are double-redirects to correct, it's a GA so there are subpages, the Commons category has subcategories, etc. I don't want you to discourage you from helping, World Metro, but I ask that you let me handle the actual renaming and the technical stuff (as someone who's done it before). You're encouraged to look through my contributions and see how I do the changes on Monday - if you have any questions about why I did things, please ask! Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:26, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Whew! Glad that there are capable hands to maintain·this article’s GA status. World Metro, I can confirm that Pi is willing to show you how this all is done, if you are willing to dig into whatever documentation exists, and to ask him questions when needed. I sort of understand maybe a half of the processes described, but have never delved deep into the arcane route map template hacking stuff. Reify-tech (talk) 05:43, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Renaming, Wikidata, templates, and the most important internal links are done. I'll get the Commons categories later today when I'm off mobile, then handle the other internal links (feel free to help with the links!). Pi.1415926535 (talk) 12:55, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
All mainspace links are done. Thanks all! Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

MBTA bus linking[edit]

According to the MBTA website, there are no bus routes that lead to Lansdowne directly, should the bus linking be removed (not for the nearby Kenmore station, only direct connections)? Archangelectra (talk) 13:36, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The website, rather annoyingly, seems to only list connections for stations with dedicated busways. Even stations like Porter, where buses stop directly at the station entrance, don't have bus connections listed. Given that, I don't think we should omit the connecting bus routes at Lansdowne. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:21, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pi.1415926535 You know, you have a good point, i forgot that bus 8 goes right by it and i even take that bus fairly often, my mistake. Archangelectra (talk) 16:16, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
