Double page?[edit]

This page seems to be a double to the page 'Lares'! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.19.200.68 (talk) 07:21, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's not quite a duplicate, but it's close. Far closer than is useful. The same editors, and (perhaps inevitably) much the same sources. I wish folks would think a little more carefully before starting new articles... but here we are. I guess I'm as much to blame as any, if not more so. If it were up to me, I'd merge them all into Lares. See below! Haploidavey (talk) 07:43, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article problems and proposed splice[edit]

Is this a translation from another wiki? It has no inline citations: and it offers observations which while entirely rational, might be original research - the sentence "But the Lar would turn his back (interestingly, this is physically possible with a statue)" seems a prime suspect. I know long wikipedia articles tend to be split into shorter, but more is not always better. All the material relevant to the Lares Familiares is offered at the main article Lares, which offers cited context, interpretation and background. It's even doubtful that Lares Familiares are a "type". So I suggest a merge of Lares Familiares into Lares. Discussion is invited. Haploidavey (talk) 16:40, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Haploidavey, you may want to add Familiar to the list of suspects. Although, there is no apparent interest into the subject. It may well rest in its unsatisfactory state for some time longer. Yotwen (talk) 08:13, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and thanks for the note. I don't think we can merge with Familiar; similar root, but very different context, function and character. Haploidavey (talk) 12:14, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
