When was the show first broadcast?[edit]

When was the show first broadcast? --Angr/tɔk mi 05:33, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to know that as well, because the information in the article at present must be either wrong or incomplete. I was a caller-in once to Larry King Live when I lived in the US from August 1983 to May 1985. The article states that the show didn't debut until June 1985. __meco (talk) 10:53, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of paragraph[edit]

Can the paragraph about the '20 hz hum' be reference please or it should be deleted. Blaghaus 22:57, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Guests[edit]

Who has been on LKL the most? Who are the most frequent interviewees?Mr T 05:54, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think there should be a guest list like the Meet the Press page has the most frequent ones.--Levineps (talk) 03:23, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talk Show hotline number[edit]

Is it really necessary to have the number to call in on this article? Mstblue (talk) 02:59, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

guest hosts[edit]

I did a lot of research and enhanced the article. If anyone knows anything more, please add it.--Levineps (talk) 03:36, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a youtube of Michelle Visage interviewing Rupaul Charles, and she is acting as guest host for Larry King. I was looking up the circumstances of this. 2A02:8071:4681:1940:0:0:0:ECDD (talk) 17:02, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline[edit]

I commented on this once years back and apparently it was deleted from discussion or moved, but this article still reads like Larry King and his program are riding high, even as articles like this one, published today, and the program's ratings, indicate otherwise: http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/dec/15/larry-king-live-final-show '"Less happily, he increasingly came across as a tiger turned toothless patsy. "Are you enjoying the job?" he asked Putin, then Russian president, in 2000.

At worst, he could be outright ignorant, boasting that he liked to go into interviews "fresh" with minimal research and never reading his guests' books. On occasion he fell flat on his face, as when he asked Jerry Seinfeld, star of one of the most popular hits in US television history, whether his show Seinfeld had been cancelled.

"You think I got cancelled?" a disbelieving Seinfeld replied, asking King "Do you know who I am? … can we get a résumé in here for me?"

"By the end King had become an almost vaudevillian relic of his past glory," Feldstein said. "He became a throwback to an earlier era of broadcasting and an anachronism with the rise of the internet."

Once tomorrow's show is over, and the lights dim on King's trademark dotted map set and his vintage microphone, the spotlight will switch to his successor, Piers Morgan. The former editor of the Mirror may not, in many ways, have a hard act to follow, despite the legendary standing of those braces.

But his new show, Piers Morgan Tonight, will be under intense pressure to improve the ratings, which in recent years has slumped from that Perot-Gore peak to a miserable nightly average of 700,000."

And http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2010/12/18/2010-12-18_larry_king_ratings.html ("Larry King went out on top of the ratings race - if only for a night.

King's celebrity-filled sendoff as host of CNN's "Larry King Live" Thursday was watched by 2.24 million people, according to the Nielsen Co.

That's more than triple King's usual 9 p.m. audience of 672,000 people. It also was good enough to give him a total-viewers win for the night over cable rivals.")

Tara Reade[edit]

I've removed the section about Tara Reade's mother's alleged call-in. Firstly it's not clear that it's relevant to this page yet; that info seems overly specific and more suited to the Joe Biden page. But more importantly it seemingly was dropped in from some other article, had no context, mentioned "Reade" without clarifying her first name or who she was, and made no sense in the place it was put.

If it's going to be re-added it needs to be formatted contextually to fit this page, which, again, is dubious to begin with.
