Draft[edit]

I finished a draft of the article "Lasertank" and now it's available for everyone to read and edit.Rhyneheimer (talk) 22:31, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Should the spelling of "Lasertank" be "LaserTank" (with uppercase T) as the game's about file and the official website indicates? Chaotic iak (talk) 10:43, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Although it has appeared in multiple ways, this is the most common way the game name is presented. This change has been made. Aerhx (talk) 00:24, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Demo GIF, tiles and source - Yura87 (talk) 17:13, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[edit]

Please note that LaserTank's official _installer_ comes with an INI that enforces an "eye saver" skin, and the GIF is in that tileset too. However, if no INI is present, the game loads a tileset with rougher colors. Therefore, the source still contains that dated skin, for unclear reasons. Eye Saver skin exists in several variants:

  • Eye Saver
  • + grid (laser trace grid, a "+" pattern over "ground" tiles)
  • + tiles (tile borders)
  • + grid + tiles (both)

Of those, the "grid" version is the one enforced by the INI, and the GIF shows that tileset too.

Appreciation of the LaserTank entry in Wikipedia[edit]

I'm very happy that this Wikipedia entry still exist's. The game has really a high educational value. I have created about 2000 of the over 20000 existing levels and will continue this activity. Ed Baumann 188.60.130.152 (talk) 12:49, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed removed of article[edit]

Removal with a week's notice of this free, open source, educational game's article seems sudden and drastic as drafts of the article have been in place for about 15 years. LaserTank participants are still active, the game is still popular, and a number of people have contributed to the article. I will try to find time to improve the article.

The reasons for proposing removal seem rather subjective. "Dubious notability" is arguable.

"Non-notable" is highly arguable, especially compared to the large number of other similar games with articles.

"the Metacritic page has no critic reviews, which is a bad sign." - I am not personally familiar with Metacritic, but that page refers only to the iOS version, not the popular, original PC version.

The game is widely available, including from the LaserTank website, and at the Cnet page, currently with 372,049 Total Downloads, and has 76 User Votes with over 60 reviews, mostly positive, and received an Editors' Review on Feb 26, 2009. https://download.cnet.com/Laser-Tank/3000-2111_4-10015874.html Rhyneheimer (talk) 22:03, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
