Redirect change[edit]

Switched redirect for this page from Latinism, that has to do with linguistics, to a more appropriate article: Romanization (cultural). -- Gaston200 (talk) 13:39, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is now a disambiguation page, similar to de:Latinität. – Fayenatic London 21:47, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Since when are most of these things called Latinity? I strongly oppose this. There is a large literature on Latinity. The German word Latinität may be used entirely differently. Srnec (talk) 22:34, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For reference, "these things" refers to [1]
Consider Timeline_of_Cluj-Napoca#20th_century, "1921 - 28 September: Capitoline Wolf Statue, a gift from Italy to Romania as a symbol for its Latinity, unveiled in Unirii Square."[2]
The citation makes clear that this is a reference to the town's Roman origins, not its proficiency in Latin. – Fayenatic London 08:37, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but I think that is a translation and not original English. There is a primary topic here. See Google Books for "the latinity of", also Scholar and plain Google. Srnec (talk) 15:49, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The dictionary definition page was tagged with {{dicdef}}. In the encyclopedia it is more useful to have a dab page, to make sense of other usages of the word within the encyclopedia. – Fayenatic London 10:25, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, the dab page is utterly useless. It cannot be linked to and it contains no sources, leading to nonsense. Since when does "Latinity" refer to a region or religion, as implied by the current list? Martin Bloomer wrote a book on Latinity (Latinity and Literary Society at Rome), so I'm pretty sure the article could be expanded beyond a "dicdef". Srnec (talk) 13:29, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
