Dual citizenship[edit]

This article (Latvian citizenship law) makes the unsupported assertion, "Dual citizenship is not recognized by the Republic of Latvia."

the Politics of Latvia article makes the unsupported assertion, "Latvia allows dual citizenship for those who were forced to leave Latvia during the Soviet or Nazi occupation and adopted another citizenship while away from Latvia. In order to be eligible for dual citizenship, they had to claim it by July 1, 1995."

These articles should be reconciled, and a supporting source cited in both of them. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 23:34, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship acquisition in 1991[edit]

In Wikipedia's articles for several other post-USSR republics, such as those for Belarus and Ukraine, the wording is clear that, as of the moment of those republics' 1991 creation, USSR citizens who were resident in their territories became citizens of the new republic. The wording in this article sounds very similar, but to my mind isn't quite as clear. Excepting the special provision for displaced persons, was the arrangement in Latvia the same? -- Finlay McWalterTalk 17:44, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality vs. citizenship[edit]

From such passport I could see, it is possible to have a double citizenship but there is only one nationality considered. It would be good to add a section to give the details and explain the difference between citizenship and nationality in the Latvian law. Gfombell (talk) 19:13, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
