Pamela Brode sent me this email today.

I was reading about Laura Clifford Barney this morning on Wikipedia online, and there is a somewhat seductive painting shown, which the article claims is of Laura, but which I am very certain is actually a painting of her older sister Natalie. Several years ago I presented a report about Laura Barney for my Ruhi Book 8 study circle. I did extensive research, and I remember seeing that same painting, which said that it was Natalie who posed for it, not Laura. For one thing, the painting shows a woman with light hair, and Laura had very dark hair and the face drawn in the painting looks nothing like Laura, but it does look very much like her sister Natalie, who had, in fact, light hair. . . .

I feel that after all these years, it is an injustice to allow that painting to continue to be shown on Wikipedia, claiming that it is of Laura Barney. That painting is of her sister Natalie, and in the name of truth and justice, I think it is only right for that picture to be removed. There are numerous other lovely and appropriate pictures of the real Laura Barney, which can replace it.

If you need documentation to prove this, please let me know and I will provide them.

Thank you!

Loving greetings, Pamela Brode
