Updates to Infobox and Career section[edit]

Hello, I work for DICK'S Sporting Goods, and I’d like to suggest the following updates to this page.

  • In the infobox, I would like to add to Lauren’s title that she is the President and CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods.[1] The lead should then be updated to read: Lauren Hobart (born 1969/1970) is an American businesswoman, and has been the President and CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods since February 2021.
  • I would like to remove that Lauren is on the board of Yum! Brands, as she is no longer a board member. [2][3]
  • I would like to add that she is a board member of the Marriott. [4]
  • I would also like to suggest the following updates to the Career section:

Hobart worked for Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase, followed by 14 years at PepsiCo[5] in a number of leadership roles, including CMO of Carbonated Soft Drinks in North America.[6][7]

She joined Dick's Sporting Goods in 2011 as senior vice president and chief marketing officer.[8] In 2015, she became executive vice president and CMO, and went on to become chief customer and digital officer. [9]

Hobart served on the board of Sonic Corp. from 2014-2018 and on the board of Yum! Brands from 2020-2022. [10]

Hobart is President of The Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation. She initiated the Sports Matter program in 2014, which provides grants, equipment and sponsorships to underserved youth sports programs. [11] [12]

I'd also like to offer an additional reference for the following sentence: On February 1, 2021, she succeeded Edward W. Stack (son of the founder, Dick Stack) as CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods. [13]

Thank you for your help, Amanda144 (talk) 15:19, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have updated the article accordingly. I have left out the reference to Person Details as it's a source / reference which is too close to the subject, but it does match the provided changes for this article.
It would be good if we can find a suitable reference for the claim "served on the board of Sonic Corp. from 2014-2018" as, without looking at the previous Person Details reference, I can only find her LinkedIn and a few other websites which repeat that claim but no announcements or a publication of that kind. Do you know if such a reference exists? Simeon (talk) 17:56, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Simeon, thank you for your help! I have found two suitable sources that show that Lauren was on the board of Sonic Corp.: Footwearnews and Fortune.
I really appreciate your assistance. Amanda144 (talk) 15:48, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, the Fortune reference requires a subscription, so I've added the Footwear News reference instead. I think a publication announcing board membership would've been better but at the same time it's not a controversial statement or claim. I have updated the edit request as "answered" as I think this covers the requested changes, unless I've missed something. Please let me know if that's the case. Simeon (talk) 19:02, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Simeon, You have covered all of the requested changes, I will be in touch if anything else comes up.
Thank you again for your help! Amanda144 (talk) 15:53, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Simeon, Would you be willing to update Lauren’s date of birth in the article and the infobox? Her page currently says that she was born in 1969/70, but her actual date of birth is August 31, 1968, as can be seen here as per WP:ABOUTSELF. This article also shows that she was 51 years old in 2020. Thank you! Amanda144 (talk) 18:54, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, when I visit that link I get "August 1" without a year, not "August 31, 1968". Also, if she was born on August 31, 1968, she wouldn't be 51 years old on November 24, 2020, so perhaps that second source is off by a year? I also can't read the second source because it requires a subscription. Is there perhaps a public source stating the year 1968? Simeon (talk) 11:56, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Simeon, Lauren’s birthday is listed correctly on Facebook here. I apologize for the typo when I wrote that her birthday is on August 31, the correct date, as listed on her Facebook profile, is August 1, 1968. I hope this clarifies the issue so we can update her page - Thank you! Amanda144 (talk) 18:36, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Amanda144, I have updated the birth date as a Facebook profile can indeed be used as per WP:ABOUTSELF. If you come across a source (that isn't social media) that lists her birth year or full birth date, that'd be good as then we can provide a reference for it in the article. Simeon (talk) 17:26, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Simeon. I appreciate your help, and I will be in touch if I find a non social media source for the birthday. Amanda144 (talk) 15:24, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
