1. Is it reasonably well written?

   "he completed his schooling then obtained work as" - I think this would read better as 'completed his schooling before obtaining work'. Done

   "On 10 September 1913, he" - this sentence has too many commas. Reword or split into two sentences. Done

   "who was wounded on 10 June, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg" - two appearances of 'wound' so close together doesn't read well. Suggest just dropping the second mention as it is unnecessary anyway. Done

   "succeeded in bottling up about 150 of them" - I'm not really sure what bottling means exactly in this context. Done contained, in this context.

   "He was also festooned 'like a Christmas tree'" - who actually said this? Depending on who it was it might be of interest.

Unclear what the origin is, the quote is from the author of his entry in the Aust Dictionary of Biography, Ritchie.
