Just a note to say that I have removed some images from the page beacuse they were speediable under either:

Category:Images with no fair use rationale
Category:Images with no copyright tag
Category:Images with no source

Or similar category. Kilo-Lima|(talk) 15:24, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Is there any way in which inline citations may be introduced into this otherwise great article? In an encyclopedia, verifiability is paramount. -- Rmrfstar 15:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beleive it or not, the history that I put in when writing this article came from my head (perhaps site - "mrlopez2681's brain" is a sufficient source? - just kidding! :) !!), though there were many instances where I referred to various histories on Russian ballet of the 19th century and French ballet of the second empire under Emperor Napolean III (when "Le Corsaire" was created).
I am not the best at adding in sources, but I can create a detailed list matching all of the info matching the referances listed at the bottom of the article (this will be a lot of citations!) and someone can go back in and add them. There is no place on the internet, save perhaps ballettalk.com, where one can find any of this info on the web, and should one find something, it is likely not correct (classical ballet is infested with incorrect credits). Most of the historical info concerning "Le Corsaire" that I have found online by way of google searches, etc. is not correct, or poorly researched.
So anyway, does the plan sound good?

Well, it sounds challenging, but better than nothing... it's simply not good enough that you know the information, it all should be verifiable. If you could name every time possible that you used such a verifiable source, I shall try to format it all properly. Thanks for understanding. -- Rmrfstar 23:29, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Galie's work[edit]

I have seen the Rome Ballet's production and post-2002 performances of ABT's "Le Corsaire".

I have a recording of the score used for Grigorovich's 1994 production of "Le Corsaire".

There is no way that Kevin Galie's orchestration for both ABT and the Rome Ballet's "Le Corsaire" could be 100% his own work. Even though Grigorovich's 1994 production offered some numbers that ABT's production and the Rome production doesnt (and, at times, the Rome and ABT versions offer music that the Grigorovich version didnt), the music is EXACTLY the same with regard to the orchestration of the numbers that all three productions use.

I have removed the passage that goes into detail regarding Galie's work on the score.

Plot?![edit]

Call me a boring traditionalist but shouldn't this article include a section which tells the story? Currently Ithe reader will have no idea. Or does this not matter ("it's only a ballet") or are there too many alternate versions?

A short synopsis can be found e.g. here. Testbed (talk) 06:02, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
