The borough does not use the french deffinate article in its own publications (see [1]). I've heard the borough in question refered to as "The South-West Borough", "The Sud-Ouest Borough" and "Sud-Ouest" but never "Le Sud-Ouest" in English. - Farquard 18:08, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it does use the article in its own publications, though this is recent, so not everything on the website is up to date. (You cited a 2004 publication; compare the June 2005 edition of the borough paper[2].) For another example, a recent internal publication that I came across at the borough office was quite categorical about the fact that the "Le" is part of the name. See also the Commission de Toponymie entry here. - Montréalais 22:48, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, request withdrawn. - Farquard 23:13, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Le" Sud-Ouest?[edit]

Why is there a "Le" in the title of this article? It's like naming this article "The" South-West 70.55.203.112 (talk) 10:02, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See above, please. -- Montréalais (talk) 01:22, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
