Rebar material[edit]

Are the reinforcing bars made of cast iron (as the rebar article claims) or the more likely wrought iron? Cast iron is not a suitable material for this purpose: it is strong in compression, not tension, as is needed for rebar. Is this a translation issue? I have to agree with you, steel and rebar came only later, mid 1800's? There is much in this article that is poorly written and some of it is difficult to understand. Avi8tor (talk) 16:34, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
