Topic of article meets general notability guideline[edit]
WP:GNG (Wikipedia's General Notability Guideline) states that 'If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list.' and '"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material"' Similarly, WP:BASIC (Wikipedia's basic notability guideline for biographies) states "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject."
The subject of this article received in-depth local coverage when she moved in 2017, after having been a pillar of the community (or at least the theater community) for decades.[1][2] When she died, she received coverage in multiple national sources.[3][4] The fact that she did not have a Wikipedia article before she died has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not she meets notability requirements. The fact that the part of her work that made her well known was only a small part of her work is also irrelevant. This individual (i) already satisfies WP:GNG, (ii) existing sources have not yet been fully used to build up the article, and (iii) it is likely that more sources will be found over time that will allow the article to be built up even further. Guess I'll add my two cents because the template stupidly keeps getting removed. Fierro didn't even have an article nor any significant press coverage until after she died, with the cause of death -- COVID-19 -- a major reason (i.e., Peg Broadbent). Both the mentioned acting company and her award are not notable, and pre-death cited sources are only regional. Her filmography was a whopping three roles, one of which had any significance simply because said film was a massive box office success. This is a clear case of both WP:BLP1E and WP:MEMORIAL in addition to a fail of WP:ACTOR. sixtynine• whaddya want? • 21:49, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Beemer69 aka "sixty nine", thanks for engaging with the talk page, but the considerations that you advanced are all irrelevant in view of the fact that she clearly meets WP:GNG. 1. The fact that she lacked a Wikipedia page when she died is utterly immaterial. Neither Jesus Christ nor Charles Darwin had Wikipedia articles about them when they died -- and in Jesus' case, there appear to be virtually no records of any kind that have survived from before his death that mention him -- does that mean that Wikipedia shouldn't have articles about Jesus or Darwin? Try making that argument on the corresponding bio pages. 2. WP:GNG does not differentiate between international, national, or regional sources, nor does it demand that the coverage involve a notable award. The fact is that she received in-depth coverage from multiple sources. This happened both when she was alive and after she died. 3. For persons who satisfy WP:GNG, the size of a filmography is irrelevant. Some of your actions and argumentation suggests you may have conflated WP:GNG with criteria for notability as an actor/actress, and think that someone who fails to satisfy the latter must ipso facto fail to satisfy the former. If so, please remember that the world does not revolve around films, extricating yourself of such confusion if you have unintentionally fallen into it. Repeated templating for unsound reasons is analogous to a frivolous lawsuit, wasting valuable time and resources that can be spent in other ways. If you'd really like to see if you can build a case for her to meet notability purely as an actress, then perhaps you could create a new section of this talk page that seeks help in finding relevant sources -- and perhaps such sources could be used to further expand the article. But such a quest in this case is irrelevant to meeting notability, since she clearly meets WP:GNG. Please accept this. Presearch (talk) 23:55, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
