Untitled[edit]

This article states that Lefty O'Doul returned to the San Francisco Seals in 1937. "O'Doul then returned to the Pacific Coast League as manager of the San Francisco Seals from 1937 . . ." However, the following web page, http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=31871, has Lefty O'Doul listed as Manager of the San Francisco Seals in the year 1935. This is collaborated by people who attended Seals games at the time.--G Sanguinetti (talk) 09:19, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New mention[edit]

This is probably too twisted, tangential, and trivial to mention, but after an art thief stole a Picasso from the Weinstein Gallery next door, the owners of Lefty O'Doul's restaurant posted a surveillance camera still of the thief walking in front of their window.[1] The picture was circulated all over the world and may have helped police find the thief the next day in Napa. The cameras were installed following an incident a few years ago in which thieves stole the arm of the O'Doul statue / mannequin from the restaurant and took it all over the world snapping photos and sending ransom demands (a bit like the UK garden gnome pranks). The arm was eventually returned (sources available on request). Per WP:PRESERVE I'm adding this here for posterity, though I'm not sure how it could fit in the article. - Wikidemon (talk) 21:31, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how this would tie in to Lefty O'Doul the player. If there was a Wiki page about the restaurant, or if Lefty was still alive and he was the one who installed the camera, obviously it would be a germaine topic, but in this case it would seem to be pretty far removed. It's funny though, part of the peculiar chain of events he set off. I don't think the restaurant is notable in its own right. If it weren't for the fact that Lefty O'Doul started it, it would be just another inner city hoffbrau / sports bar / tourist piano sing-a-long. As it is, the restaurant does make the news a lot, even national news as in this case. But it just wouldn't feel right to start covering this kind of thing, I guess we'll leave it to WP:NOT#NEWS. - Wikidemon (talk) 17:59, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
