Misleading religious demographics pie chart

If you look in the Demographics section, the thing that jumps out at you first is the pie chart, which suggests at first glance that everyone in Lethbridge is religious, almost all of them Christian, and that the second-largest group after Christians is Buddhists. But doing the math, this pie chart deliberately omits about 15,000 people who are not religious. By far, this is the true second-largest group in Lethbridge (~25%) as of 2001. We are in need of an accurate pie chart, or at least the removal of the one that is there. 24.57.239.43 (talk) 18:54, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

The title of the pie chart is “2001 Religion Distribution.” The caption reads, “2001 distribution of religions in Lethbridge.” It seems pretty clear to me the chart represents the distribution of religions in Lethbridge, not what persons’ actual religious affiliation (or lack thereof) is. “No religion” is not actually a religion. —Kmsiever (talk) 14:25, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Census agglomeration

For whatever reason, someone recently felt it necessary to edit the settlement template to change any instance of “metropolitan” to “agglomeration.” I think this is a bit pedantic. Metropolitan in this case is a generic term and is not related to specific terms used by Statistics Canada. In addition, please note the following:

“census agglomerations assume the status of a census metropolitan area if they have attained a total
population of at least 100,000 of which 50,000 or more live in the urban core.”[1]

Since the Lethbridge CA has attained more than 100,000 people and the settlement infobox label of “metropolitan” is a generic term, I propose reversing this change so the infobox reads “metropolitan” where it currently reads “agglomeration”. —Kmsiever (talk) 13:11, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

In the WP articles of the core cities that are the centres of CMAs, the StatCan CMA populations are applied to the "metropolitan" parameters in their infoboxes. Lethbridge has never been identified as a "census metropolitan area" by StatCan. It has always been a "census agglomeration".[2][3][4][5] The fact that StatCan chooses to present both CMAs and CAs within the same data table[6] does not make it okay to brand a city, which is the centre of a CA, as actually being the centre of a metro area.

Here are the definitions of CMAs and CAs as of the 2011 census,[7] which are essentially the same as in 2006. In the publishing of the 2011 census results, it appears, for the first time, that the Lethbridge CA is now eligible for promotion to a CMA according to these definitions. Until such time that StatCan does officially promote it to a CMA, it remains a CA, and it is not correct to imply it is now officially a CMA by using the same infobox parameter used to present the population of Canada's currently designated CMAs. Implying it is a metro area by using the "metropolitan" parameter can have the optics of peacocking, whether intentional or not.
Personally, I'm excited for Lethbridge to become the third CMA in Alberta, and I hope we don't have to wait until 2016 for its official promotion. Until then, agglomeration is factual. (Note, I did the same for Cranbrook, British Columbia and Brooks, Alberta at the same time I did this for Lethbridge. Undoubtedly there are probably numerous other articles that need the same attention.) Hwy43 (talk) 03:48, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
I do not believe that using the generic “metropolitan” label in the infobox constitutes branding Lethbridge as a CMA. Regardless, I think it is correct to imply (which I don’t think using the generic term does) it is a CMA based on the quote I included above. —Kmsiever (talk) 14:39, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Good news, everyone! As previously predicted, the Lethbridge census agglomeration has been promoted to a census metropolitan area for the 2016 census. See details and ref within this series of edits. Hwy43 (talk) 07:02, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Sunshine data?

Where is the sunshine data for this location coming from? It's not in the source and searching around the climate archives for "Lethbridge", I have found 2300.6 in the 1971-2000 data for Lethbridge CDA and 2323.5 for the same location in the 1961-1990 data. I don't see the 2507.3 anywhere which is what's in the article here. Is this a mistake? Was it buried in an FTP CSV chart somewhere? Air.light (talk) 04:28, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

@Air.light: Yes. The sunshine data was buried in an FTP CSV chart. The link was removed so I am putting back on. I added back the link to the data. Hopefully, that should make the data more verifiable. Ssbbplayer (talk) 13:54, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for that. Air.light (talk) 17:59, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
