Divorce[edit]

I moved the following recently added statement to here from the article page:"The two later had a divorce after 18 years of marriage." Might be true, might not be, but the references inthe article do not state this. Statements should have reliable and verifiable sources per WP:ATT. This IP editor asserts there is debate among historians regarding Latimer's contribution, but only cites books without even having the year of publication for 3 of 4 cited, and no page numbers at all. Please provide actual page numbers and summarize in this section what the reference says about Latimer, or the claimed "debate among historians" may be removed as unverified. It is not what is said of Latimer, in any of the book references listed, which were published during and after his life. Cleanup[edit]

Hi! this is to explain several edits I have just made to the article. Firstly, I removed a claim (which ocurred in two places throughout the article)that Latimer's water closet patent was the first of many patents of its kind, as this is untrue. See this patent of the same title dated five years before Latimer's:

Next, I removed a description of Latimer's work as a draftsman from the Inventions subtitle, as the function of a draftsman is more like an artist or an architect and has nothing to do with the actual invention of the machine. In short, a draftsman is employed to draw up a sufficiently detailed patent application to submit to the U.S. Patent Office.

Lastly, I removed more commentary about Latimer's work as a draftsman from the Inventions subtitle, as again, work as a draftsman has nothing to do with this man's inventions. Maybe this material can be recycled into a new section.

Inaccuracy?[edit]

There seems to be a dubious claim of being first: "While at Edison, Latimer wrote the first book on electric lighting, Incandescent Electric Lighting (1890)"

It seems another inventor working on light bulbs published the book "Electric Lighting by Incandescence" on the subject in 1881, 9 years earlier? ^[1]

Improvements of electric lamp[edit]

I have added the citation for the claim of a patent granted for electric lamp. Looking at the citation it's improvements of electric lamp along with J.V. Nichols. Making the statement inaccurate that LH latimer solely invented the electric lamp. An accurate wording would be a patent was granted of improvements of the electric lamp with co inventor J.V. Nichols.
